私は映画館が好きだ。
映画館を嫌いな人は数えるほどしかいないのではないかと思う。
I love movie theaters.
I think there are only a few people who dislike movie theaters.
週末は必ずといっていいほど映画を見に行く。
On weekends, we always go to the movies.
平日でも下校道の延長線上に映画館があるので、ほとんど毎日足を踏み入れてしまう癖がある。
I have a habit of stepping into a movie theater almost every day, even on weekdays, because it is an extension of the path down from school.
映画館が好きというのは、映画を鑑賞したいと思う気持ちももちろん含んでいる。
The love of movie theaters includes, of course, the desire to watch movies.
でも、フライヤーや広告ポスターの配置、ポップコーンの香ばしい匂い、係員さんたちの胸ポケットについた映画の缶バッジ、その全てが私が映画館に足を運ぶ理由を作っている。
But the placement of the flyers and advertising posters, the savory smell of the popcorn, and the movie badges on the breast pockets of the attendants all give me a reason to visit the movie theater.
映画館は日々更新されていく。
The cinema is updated daily.
新しい映画の広告や、新しいフード&ドリンクの販売、新しいコラボグッズの販売、新しいガチャガチャのラインナップ。
New movie ads, new food & drink offerings, new collaborative merchandise, and a new gacha gacha lineup.
私にとって、映画館は、常に新しいキラキラで溢れている場所だ。
For me, the cinema is a place that is always full of new sparkles.
誰かにとっての水族館がそうであるように、誰かにとってのアミューズメントパークがそうであるように、私は映画館という場所がこの世で一番好きだ。
Just as an aquarium is to someone, just as an amusement park is to someone, I love the movie theater the most in this world.
席を予約して胸が騒ぎ、開場の瞬間に誰よりも早くチケットをちぎってもらう。
You reserve your seat, your heart is racing, and you get your ticket torn off before anyone else at the moment the doors open.
決まって私は1番後ろのど真ん中を選ぶ。有名な作品や自分が好きな作品の続編などは、必ずこの席で見たいので、席をネットで予約することもある。
Invariably, I choose the first back, the middle of the room. Sometimes I reserve seats online because I always want to see famous films or sequels of my favorite films in these seats.
でも、変なこだわりを持っているもので、私は映画館のお姉さんと話して、席を予約したいし、お金を払いたい。
But, being a weird obsessive, I want to talk to the lady at the movie theater, reserve my seat, and pay for it.
最近はパネルで席を予約するところも増えてきているが、何も考えずその場で見る映画を決める派の私は、パネルを触っていたら、いつまでも見る映画を決められないので大体窓口に行く。
Recently, there are more and more places where you can reserve seats on a panel, but as someone who decides what movie to see on the spot without thinking, I usually go to the counter because I can't decide what movie to see forever if I touch the panel.
見る予定の映画タイトルの横に目をやると、準備中の文字が私を見つめている。
I look next to the title of the movie I plan to see, and the words Preparing are staring back at me.
30分ほど人の流れを見ながら、その文字が開場へと変わるのを待つ。
We watch the flow of people for about half an hour, waiting for that letter to change to open the doors.
その時間が愛おしくて仕方がない。
I love that time.
1番乗りでチケットをちぎってもらったあと、その半券を大切に財布にしまう。
After getting the ticket torn off at the first stop, I carefully tuck the stub into my wallet.

毎回、スクリーンの大きさを見て圧倒され、広告が流れ出した音を耳がキャッチして脳が痺れる。
Each time, I am overwhelmed by the size of the screen and my brain goes numb as my ears catch the sound of the ads starting to play.
この時間を誰にも奪われたくない、そう思う時間が映画館で私を待っている。
I don't want anyone to take this time away from me, and that's what awaits me at the movie theater.
映画館で流れる広告映像が好きだ。
I like the advertising images shown in movie theaters.
地元の車屋さんの広告のキャッチーな感じが面白いと思うし、他の映画の予告編を見るのも好きだ。
I think it's funny how catchy the ads are for local car dealerships, and I like to watch trailers for other movies.
でも何より、映画泥棒は格別である。
毎回目に焼き付けようと必死になりすぎて、最悪の場合、本編より見入ってしまうこともある。
But above all, movie thieves are exceptional. Every time I try too hard to catch the film in my eyes, and in the worst case scenario, I end up watching more than the film itself.
あの作品が流れることでスクリーンを見つめる客の空気感がかわる。それが私の体を震え立たせる。
When that work is played, the atmosphere of the audience staring at the screen changes. It makes my body tremble.
いよいよ、本編が始まる。その臨場感に満ちているのに、びっくりするほど静かで、そのギャップが心地よいのだ。
Finally, the main part of the film begins. It is full of that sense of presence, yet surprisingly quiet, and the gap between the two is pleasant.
全員が次に画面が変わるのを今か今かと待つ。
Everyone waits now and then for the next screen change.
そして、上映が始まる。
Then the screening begins.

しかし、こんなことを話している私だが、本編が始まると、のめり込める作品よりものめり込めない作品の方が多い。
However, even though I am talking about these things, when the main productions begin, there are more works that I cannot get into than those that I can get into.
大体の場合、「ここはこんな感じの表情の魅せ方がしたかったんだな。」「ここのカットのこだわりが凄すぎる。」「脚本の流れに隙がなさすぎる。」というように、物語に没頭することより、制作段階に思いを馳せていることが多い。
For the most part, it's like, “This is the kind of facial expression you wanted to capture here.” “The attention to detail in this cut is too much.” The flow of the script is too seamless." In many cases, the viewer is thinking about the production stage rather than immersing himself or herself in the story.
純粋に頭の中がうるさいのだ。いつしか、映画が好きすぎてそうなってしまったのだ。
It's purely a headache. Somewhere along the way, I became that way because I love movies too much.
加えて、「ここの表現をもう少し変えるだけでもっと良くなるのに。」と思うこともある。
In addition, there are times when I think, “Just a few more changes in wording here and there would make it even better.” I sometimes think, “It would be better if I just changed the expression a little bit here and there.
もちろん、公開されている一本の映画の中に様々な人が関わっていて、いろんな技術が組み込まれていることはわかっている。

先日ゲームの話をした時もそうだったが、見ている映画が良いからこそ、もっと素晴らしいものにできるのではないかという期待が勝つ。
As was the case the other day when we talked about the game, the expectation that the film we are watching is so good that we can make it even better prevails.
そんなことをずっと考えているから、全く飲み物は無くならないし、気分を上げるために買ったポップコーンは待ち時間のうちに食べた分しか減っていない。
I keep thinking about that, so I don't run out of drinks at all, and the popcorn I bought to lift my spirits has only dwindled to the amount I ate during the wait.
上映が終わって、個人のInstagramにあげる用の写真を撮影して、清掃の方に挨拶をする。
After the screening, take photos for your personal Instagram and greet the cleaning crew.
深呼吸をして、今日の映画館の空気をたくさん味わう。
心の中で「ありがとう。」と呟いて映画館を後にする。
Take a deep breath and savor much of today's cinema air.
I leave the cinema muttering, “Thank you. and leave the cinema.
こんな体験をしたからには、明日からまた日常に戻るのは憂鬱で仕方がない。
After an experience like this, I can't help but feel depressed about going back to my daily routine tomorrow.
私の日常と非日常を繋いでくれるのは映画館である。
It is the cinema that connects my everyday life with the extraordinary.
そう言って私は明日も現実逃避する。
With that said, I will escape reality again tomorrow.
