An artist/ entertainer, Mr. M.
This is the story of one man.
I met an artist/ entertainer, Mr. M.
Unsureness
I met him when I was in a confusion about my future.
I did not necessarily feel insecure
nor worried too much in fact;
I came here to Paris to try to use all my talents and skills,
or even discover or create more skills,
and challenge all the possibilities.
Yet, I could still say that
I was holding a heavy "unsureness" on my shoulder.
Choosing "unsettled"
We were having a glass of wine
watching the beautiful Eiffel Tower and talking about life.
We are both around 30 years old,
which is considered the time to get settled.
Yet, both of us are choosing "unsettled" in some way.
I quit my job and came to Paris just because
It is my dream to come to Paris where I was born
and live by myself there.
Mr. M chooses to be an artist by letting his previous job
in marketing which could be a more settled option.
But, he seems finding more ways than me…
I tried to discover what makes the differences between us.
"Everything is actually difficult"
Believe it or not,
He is a self-taught dancer.
It was so inspiring and interesting for me
that he took a huge leap in his career
without any diploma or title.
Mr. M didn't come from a dancing background.
When he started he became a self-taught dancer
and gradually went overseas
to expand his dance skills
"Everything is actually difficult"
This phrase is so simple yet powerful to me.
This is what he answered when I asked him
"Weren't you scared to change your career
from being a marketer to being a dancer?"
Going to college. get graduated.
Get a job at the company.
It looks like a "smooth way" of life.
Yet, it does not change the fact that
the way is difficult.
Yeah…anything could be difficult.
Just because it is the path that
a lot of people are going through and
have more role models,
it does not mean it is not difficult.
It is difficult!!!!!!
So cheers to everyone who
is walking the so-called "regular path".
You may think it is boring and
you are not challenging yourself,
it is one beautiful way and
you are still challenging yourself.
But if I can add one phrase, it would be…
Why not use your energy
for what you are passionate about
doing if everything is difficult?
You live your life one.
Make a choice wisely.
That's what I learned from my creative friend, Mr.M.

これはパリで活躍する
あるダンサー・エンタテイナーMr.Mの話。
不確実性
２７歳の女子の私は去年２０２３年に
仕事をやめ、一人でパリにやってきた🇫🇷
目的の一つは、仕事という枠にとらわれずに
自分の才能やスキルすべてをできるだけ使う
ということをしてみたい、
新しい自分や自分の才能を見つけたり
新しいスキルを身につけ、
自分の可能性というものに
挑戦していきたいと思った。
ただ、少しだけ困惑の中にいる自分がいた。
自分に不安があるというのとは違った。
ただただやれることをやりきろう。
その気持ちが不安よりも大きかった。
でも、”不確実性”というものの
重さは感じていた。
そんな時に私はMr.Mに出会った。
不安定を選ぶ
”安定”という言葉がちらつく３０代。
３０代という湖を不安定を選びながら
さまよう私たちは、
私たちはエッフェル塔を眺めながら
人生について話していた。
自分が生まれた街に来て
生まれた街で一人で生活するという
夢を叶えるために仕事をやめてパリが来た私。
マーケターという安定職を手放し、
アーティストという道を選んだMr.M.
同じように不安定を選んだもの同士なのに、
なぜか彼はわたしよりなにかを掴んでいる気がする。。。
それはなぜなんだろう。。。
"すべてが難しいんだ"
驚いたことに、
彼はダンスを小さい頃からしていたわけでなく、
高校生の時に友達と始めた
自分でダンスを学んだようだった。
ダンスの肩書きがないのに
ダンスの道を選んだMr.M.
なんてかっこいいんだ。なんて勇敢なんだ。
"すべてが難しいんだ"
彼のこの言葉にはパワーがあった。
「マーケターからダンサーになるのは
怖くなかったのか？」そう彼に尋ねた時に
彼が言った言葉だ。
大学に行くこと。卒業すること。
会社に勤めること。
一見”単純”で”当たり前”な道。
ただ、一見”単純”で”当たり前”な道、
これは決して”簡単な道”
というわけではない。
何事も難しいんだ。。。
多くの人が通る”一般的な道”
だからと言って、
決して難しくないわけではないんだ！！
だから、自分があまりにも
当たり前な道を進んでいて
つまらない人生だなとか
自分って頑張っていないのかなと
思うことがある人たちに言いたい。
その”当たり前な道”も
美しい道であって、
その道をあなたは一生懸命
歩いているんだよということを。
だけど一つだけ付け加えたいと思う。
何もかもが難しいならば、
自分の心がワクワクするものに
自分のエネエルギーを使ってみても
いいんじゃない？
一度きりの人生。
賢い選択をしよう。
それが私の友人 Mr.M. が教えてくれたことだった。
