"Small home is filled with children's smiles" How to spend a birthday of an English teacher.

フィリピンでは、誕生日はどんなふうに過ごすのでしょうか。プレゼントやケーキはどんなものをあげるの? オンライン英会話の講師に聞いてみました。

I study online English conversation daily. The teacher is a 21-year-old man living on Cebu Island in the Philippines. Before I start my English lesson, I practice practicing free talk. The theme of that day is about my birthday. How do Filipino children spend their birthdays? What gift does teacher give his sister and brothers?

I really want to celebrate with my whole family. But……

The teacher is the top of six siblings. Everyone except him is a student. So on birthday, he buys his siblings a present. What present will he give?

"My sisters and brothers want new bags and shoes. Moms like face masks. My 13-year-old brother wants money recently. I want to buy something. "

He currently lives on the island of Cebu for work, but his family lives on another island a little further away. Therefore, he cannot return to his parents' home on the birthday of his brother and sisters.

"I really want to go home and celebrate with my mom and siblings."

I feel happy when the children are full of smiles.

How do you spend his birthday party at home?

"First, when I get home, I'll give out sweets to my neighbors. All the kids, like chocolates, cookies and candies, are looking forward to getting some sweets. Then they call them home. Playing games, singing, dancing, etc. My parents' house is a small house, but it's full of kids that day.A lot of kids come home and play happily I like to watch. ''

He really likes children.

"Every child is so cute. My brothers and sisters are happy because many friends come and celebrate."

When I bought a cake  in Japan, it was about one cut. He told me that a cake cost 400 yen per cut, and  that if he paid 400 pesos (about 800 yen) in the Philippines, he could buy a whole cake.

In Japan, 20 or 30 years ago, one cake cut was larger and cheaper than it is now. Recently, as the quality and taste of the ingredients used have improved and the cost of the ingredients themselves has also risen, the price of cakes has increased year by year. I think prices will rise in the Philippines in the future.

Last birthday, I couldn't meet my family.

By the way, what presents do his brothers and sisters give him?

"My siblings haven't worked yet, so they will send me cards and letters.
I'm very happy because they write the cards with feelings. I don't want anything. And sent it to me. Everyone sang a happy birthday song, and when I saw it, I cried unintentionally. I'm happy to sing and celebrate the song, and I really wished we could spend the whole family together. "He said he couldn't return to his home last year.

"Because my house is far away, it takes five hours to transfer buses and boats. It also costs transportation. I want to send money for my family, so I save as little as possible. I wanted to go back and spend time together. ''

He will celebrate his 22nd birthday this summer. I hope he can return home by then. And it might be nice to celebrate a little earlier birthday together.

His birthday with his most important family. I wish I had a wonderful day.
