”心理学者で哲学者でもあるウィリアム・ジェームズは「人間が失敗する唯一の理由は、自分に自信が持てないことだ」と語っている。自信のある人はそうでない人よりも、よい職業に就き、よりよい業績を上げられることが証明されている。”

”Psychologist and philosopher William James said, "The only reason people fail is that they lack self-confidence." It's been proven that confident people get better jobs and perform better than those who don't.”

”ペンシルベニア大学で心理学を教えるマーチン・セリグマン教授は、大手生命保険会社の営業マンを対象とした調査を行った。その結果、自分は成功すると予想した人の売上は、しなかった人の売上はよりも37％も多かった事が明らかになった。”

”Martin Seligman, a professor of psychology at the University of Pennsylvania, conducted a survey of salespeople at a large life insurance company. The results showed that those who predicted they would succeed sold 37% more than those who did not.”

”自信の有無は、子どもの頃から大きく影響する。学校での成績を見た場合、自尊心と成績の相関関係のほうが、知能指数と成績との相関関係よりも強いと主張する研究者もいる。”

”Confidence or lack of self-confidence plays an important role in childhood. When looking at school performance, some researchers argue that the correlation between self-esteem and grades is stronger than the correlation between IQ and grades.”
