「見合い結婚」を英語で言ってみる❣️
昨今の若い方々はマッチングアプリを利用したことは一度はあるとかないとか、、、「出会い系サイト」などという死語が当てはまってしまう世代の私からすると世も末かなぁと（笑）。さらにこの出会い系の元祖を辿ればやはり行き着くところは「見合い結婚」じゃあないのでしょうか？もはや完全なる死語、お見合いなんて今時、、、と思いつつ意外と人気があるのも今日この頃のトレンドらしいです。今日は、この「見合い結婚」を英語で言ってみよう❣️
１．「見合い結婚」とは何でしょう？
見合い結婚 第2次世界大戦末までは，ほとんどの結婚は見合によりました。2021年の調査では，約13パーセントの結婚が見合いです。過去において、見合結婚の割合が大きかった理由の一つは，概して見合が良縁を得る機会となっていたからです。実際，うまくいっている結婚はしばしば見合の結果なのです。見合には，若いカップル当人よりも，結婚に対して現実的な見方をする人たち，すなわち仲人とか両親とか親類の者が間に入ります。仲人は，両家の間の情報交換の手はずを整えます。重要な情報は常に文書で交換し，写真を添えます。もし双方が次の段階に進むことに同意すれば，仲人は結婚の見込みがある2人を両親ともども引き合わせます。見合と呼ばれるこの初対面の後，2人は定期的に交際し，相手が伴侶としてふさわしいかどうかじっくり考えたうえ，結婚するかどうか決めます。男性の申込みが受け入れられると，男性が女性に贈物（普通は婚約指輪とお金)をするのがしきたりです。この婚約式を結納といいます。通常，数ヵ月後に，神道式で，あるいはまれに仏教式かキリスト教式で，結婚式が行われます。
２．「見合い結婚」を英語で言ってみる❣️
Arranged Marriages Until the end of World War II, most marriages were arranged; according to a 2021 survey, about 13 percent of marriages were arranged. One reason for the large proportion of arranged marriages in the past is that they generally provided an opportunity for a good marriage. In fact, successful marriages are often the result of an arranged marriage. The matchmaking process involves people with a more realistic view of marriage than the young couple themselves: matchmakers, parents, and other relatives. The matchmaker arranges for the exchange of information between the two families. Important information is always exchanged in writing and accompanied by photographs. If both parties agree to proceed to the next stage, the matchmaker brings the prospective couple together with their parents. After this first meeting, known as an "arranged marriage," the couple will have regular contact with each other and will decide whether or not to marry after careful consideration of the suitability of the other as a companion. If the man's proposal is accepted, he presents the woman with a gift (usually an engagement ring and money). This engagement ceremony is called a Yuinou. Usually, a few months later, a wedding ceremony is held, either in a Shinto or, rarely, a Buddhist or Christian ceremony.

冒頭申し上げたように、若者の間ではマッチングアプリ、Dating Appsがもはや出会には欠かせないアイテムとなっているようです。2010年代初頭にPairsが市場にだされたときには、まさかここまで流行るとは思ってもいませんでした、、、と、いうことで、巷で流行ってるマッチングアプリ、世界vs日本ということで比較してみました。やっぱり結構違いますね。Pairs今でもがんばってるんだなあと感心しました（笑）。
