男女が分かり合えない理由〜その５〜Why men and women can't understand each other ~Part 5~

前回の記事で男女が分かり合えないと言われている理由の４つ目をご紹介させて頂きました。男性脳は結論を急ぎ、女性脳はプロセスを大事にするという思考の広がり方の違いが影響していました。気になる方はそちらの記事もチェックしてみてください。今回は男女の脳の違いを解き明かす５つ目を『男女脳戦略』より一部抜粋してご紹介させて頂きます。

In the previous article, I introduced the fourth reason why it is said that men and women cannot understand each other. This was due to the difference in the way men think, with men's brains rushing to conclusions and women's brains focusing on processes. If you are interested, please check out these articles as well. This time, I would like to introduce the 5th part of "Men's and Women's Brain Strategy" that elucidates the difference between the brains of men and women.

”女性脳の特徴に「自己関連づけ」という発想があります。これは、自分と関係のないことでも自分と関係があるかのように結びつけて考えたり、他人のことを自分のことのように考えたり、自分とは関係ない情報でも自分に必要な情報ではないかと考えたりすることです。女性脳の人が占いにハマるのも「自己関連付け」によるもの。ところが多くの男性の人は「占いを信じない」といいます。”

"One of the characteristics of the female brain is the idea of ``self-association.'' This is because we associate things that have nothing to do with ourselves as if they were, we think of others as if they were our own, and we think that information that has nothing to do with us is not information that we need. It means thinking about whether or not there is. The reason why people with female brains are addicted to fortune telling is because of ``self-association. However, many men say they don't believe in fortune telling. ''

"その理由のひとつは③でも紹介した論理的思考です。男性脳は論理的根拠という裏付けがない占いに「いかがわしさ」を感じてしまいます。さらに男性脳の人には「自分は自分」＝常に主導権は自分が握っていたいという意識があります。そもそも自分の弱みや悩みを明かしたくない男性脳ですから、占い師という、初対面の相手に自己開示をするなんてもってのほかなのです。"

"One of the reasons for this is the logical thinking introduced in reason #3. The male brain perceives fortune-telling without any logical basis as ``shady.'' Furthermore, people with male brains have a sense that ``I am myself'' = that they always want to be in control. In the first place, the male brain does not want to reveal his weaknesses and worries, so it is out of the question to disclose himself to a fortune-teller, a person he meets for the first time."
