A slightly bitter debut

Hey there. How's it going? Gentle Gian is here.
Finally, I made my debut as a volunteer interpreter the other day.

Several months ago, I registered it and missed the opportunity last time.

The request was to help a pregnant mom at the health consultation center this time.

It was a slightly bitter debut for me.
Although I prepared the words regarding pregnancy and delivery in advance, the topics were the newborn baby and the first child's nursery and who takes care of her first child during the delivery.
Regarding that, I need to interpret the service she can take and the systems of our local government.
It was like Greek to me.
Even if in Japanese, I can't explain it well.

Fortunately, two people from the International Medical Center attended, and they helped me a lot.
I've heard one of them used to be a public health nurse and had experience joining Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers.
So she is a super professional.
I learned a lot from them.

In addition, on the way home, heavy rain started falling, so I got soaked.

Although I couldn't engage well this time, I decided to learn about our local government system for another opportunity.

ほろ苦いデビュー

こんにちは。皆さんお元気ですか？Gentle Gianです。
ついに先日ボランティア通訳デビューしました。

数か月前に登録し、前回はチャンスを逃してしまいました。

今回の依頼は、保健相談所で妊婦さんの相談のお手伝いでした。

ほろ苦いデビューになってしまいました。
事前に妊娠・出産に関する用語を調べるなど準備をしていましたが、主な相談内容は、第一子、第二子の保育園をどうするか、出産時に上の子を誰が見るかでした。
それに関して彼女が受けられる公的サービスについて通訳する必要がありましたが、私にはちんぷんかんぷん。
日本語でもうまく説明する自信がありません。

幸い、国際医療センターから２名の方が同席されており、たくさん助けていただきました。
そのうちのお一方は以前保健師さんをされており、青年海外協力隊に参加された経験もおありなんだそうです。
彼女はプロ中のプロ。
たくさん学ばせていただきました。

ついでに言うと、帰り道、ゲリラ豪雨に遭い、びしょ濡れになりました。

今回はうまく通訳することができなかったけど、次回に備えて公的サービスについて学ぼうと決意しました。
