My experiences in NZ #30

Hello there.
I’d love to continue from where I ended last time.

After returning from Napier, I received good news from one of the hotels I applied for, “Chateau Tongariro Hotel,” in Tongariro national park. It includes “Mt. Tongariro,” famous for its active volcano and registered as a World Heritage Site.

It said they had some vacant positions for room cleaner or restaurant service. I decided to take a job interview. However, since it took about six hours by train from Auckland, they suggested I stay at their hotel for one night, and I accepted their suggestion. Of course, I paid for the room charge.

It was my first experience boarding a train in NZ. Unbelievably, the train never came on time, as I had known from the guidebook. The train station attendant announced, “The train will arrive probably in about thirty minutes, I hope,” like that. The timetable was not to be counted on. On the other hand, our railroad services in Japan are Outstanding.

That’s all for today, and to be next time.

See you around.
