My experiences in NZ#25

Hello there.
Although it’s been quite a while since I last posted, I’d love to continue from where I ended last time.

I had started applying to hotels in other cities, and at the same time, luckily, I could take interviews at several hotels in Auckland. However, they looked for bed-making staff, which differed from my desired job category—mismatching again.

On the other hand, I visited the Japan Mart, called “Japama.” I would like to know if it still exists. I remembered that I had heard from my Japanese friend from the language school that if we wanted information regarding jobs, accommodations, cars, and so on, we’d better visit “Japama.” And then we might get some valuable information there since the Internet was less widespread then. When we went there, we could get any pieces of information.

The way of provision of information was straightforward. The person who wanted to sell something posted the information on the information board, like collecting tickets and filling in their contact number. And then, the person who tried to buy it tore it off and contacted them.

In my case, I found the information regarding a bike, and it said: “mountain bike for NZ$100, including a helmet.” I tore off the paper with someone’s name and phone number and contacted him and asked him to discount.

Finally, I got an excellent bike for 70 dollars. I could save 30 dollars!

I’m curious about the way of traditional dealings I have experienced nowadays. If someone knows that, please let me know.

That’s all for today, and to be next time.
See you around.
