エモい、を英語にしてみよう。

エモいの定義（Wikiから）：

エモいは、英語の「emotional（エモーショナル）」を由来とした、「感情が動かされた状態」、「感情が高まって強く訴えかける心の動き」などを意味する日本のスラング（俗語）、および若者言葉である。

となっている。

だが、emotionalという単語の意味は、

感情に動かされやすいさま。感情的。

となっている。イコールというわけではない。

本来の「複雑な感情を表現すること」から離れ、「なんとなくいい」ことや、「何かを感じた、思った」ときに「エモい」と言っているようだ。

ここに、一外国人の見解を見つけたので、ここに紹介する：

It sometimes just means ‘nice’ and ‘interesting’, but always has an emotional or melancholic mood. For example, lying on the beach under the blue sky for your summer vacation is not ‘エモい Emoi’, even though it is ‘nice’.
