The main theme of this year's International Congress of Entomology is "New Discoveries through Consilience ," and Hisahito's paper is truly a "New Discoveries of another world through Consilience of artificial objects, specimens, studio photography, image processing, and ignorance", so I would love for you to cover it.

This is the blog that summarizes many dragonflies from another world that Japanese people have discovered.

People are still discovering the "another world" within the paper and reporting on the blog.

Photo No.85, Libellula quadrimaculata asahinai Schmidt. According to the paper, this dragonfly, which is classified as endangered, was miraculously discovered and photographed in Shobu Pond.
However, there is a round hole at the tip of the dragonfly's body in the photo, which appears to have been where the internal organs were removed when the specimen was made.
Also, the shadow under the dragonfly would not be as pitch black as this in natural light. Furthermore, there are no fallen trees around the Shobu Pond like those in the photo.
https://etcetera-japan.com/why-do-they-have-to-renovate-the-shobuike-pond

Photo No.43, Anaciaeschna martini. The paper states that they were "mating while flying over a pond at dusk," however, since the dragonfly's habit is to lay its eggs before dusk, mating actually occurs several hours before that. The mating site is in the forest. The subject of this paper is probably the first in the world to have been photographed mating, due to the behavior that is completely different from their usual habits.
Also, the female is deformed, having five wings or two abdomens.

https://etcetera-japan.com/normal-anaciaeschna-martini-has-four-wings

Photo No.74, Pseudothemis zonata. Although it is called ``emergence'', the characteristic of the emergence of the dragonfly is that it is a drooping type (it clings to the larval shell in an overhanging place and hangs its wings to dry while lying on its back), and it occurs early in the morning. The paper ignores all of their habits.

Isn't it just amazing how the researchers published the paper without knowing things that even amateurs could find out with a little research?

Below is a list of some of the obvious otherworldly things from that blog, clearly demonstrating fabrication and ignorance.

https://etcetera-japan.com/was-the-sympecma-paedisca-lively-or-not
Photo No.19, Sympecma paedisca. (The highlight of this paper is the discovery of this, an endangered species in the Tokyo area. )
The dragonfly's belly droops and its legs are curled up as if it were dead.
https://etcetera-japan.com/was-the-sympecma-paedisca-lively-or-not-2

The hind leg is floating (doesn't catch the grass). The front legs are unnaturally crossed. It looks like its body is being supported by the grass.

These discoveries sparked her blog readers to begin scrutinizing the paper.
They started to report their findings to her:

https://etcetera-japan.com/several-strange-objects-on-and-by-the-sympecma-paedisca
Photo No.19. There are 2 "artificial terminal" in the neck area. The base of the wings and neck are discolored black. It uses something like a specimen needle to prevent the dragonfly from falling over.

https://etcetera-japan.com/there-might-be-more-strings-than-we-thought
Photo No.19. A white thread is stretched around the dragonfly, and there are also knots. There is also a specimen needle on the rectangular white object attached to hide the tip of the tail.

https://etcetera-japan.com/was-the-orthetrum-albistylum-speciosum-pair-alive-or-not
Photo No.82. The male's legs don't grip anything. Three thin rod-like objects can be seen between the dragonflies' bodies and the ground.

https://etcetera-japan.com/a-wing-of-the-male-dragonfly-is-broken-on-picture-82
Photo No.82. The female's wing veins are severed and her wing is broken. After mating, she has to slam her tail on the water surface to lay eggs, so why do they mate on grass or dead grass where their wings get damaged? Additionally, two specimen needle-like things can be seen on this female's body.

https://etcetera-japan.com/prince-hisahito-mistakes-a-male-dragonfly-for-a-female
Photo No.18. The gender of the dragonfly in the description is incorrect.
Photo No.19. The plant name for the location described is incorrect.

https://etcetera-japan.com/mr-s-got-answers-from-national-museum-of-nature-and-sciencetokyo
A person asked the National Museum of Nature and Science, which reviewed and published the paper: According to the past newspaper report, during his research period, Hisahito created rice fields and released dragonfly larvae and killifish for food. Isn't this considered “releasing insects” which is prohibited?
The National Museum of Nature and Science answered: It has been confirmed that the new species were not artificially added from outside the Akasaka Imperial Land, and that there is little impact on the number of dragonfly species in the ``Dragonfly Fauna of the Akasaka Imperial Land''.

https://etcetera-japan.com/photo-58-scotch-tapeed-on-the-right-side
Photo No.58. A piece of Scotch tape is pasted from under the dragonfly's chest to the other side, and the bottom end of the tape is attached to the grass stalk to prevent the dragonfly from flying away.

https://etcetera-japan.com/strange-joint-and-leg-seen-on-photo-52-ictinogomphus-pertinax
Photo No.52. The dragonfly does not hold on to the grass with its own legs, but has extra artificial leg and joint.

https://etcetera-japan.com/photo-55-on-hisahitos-paper-has-many-strange-points
Photo No.66. The photo description says: 66: Akiakane ♀ emergence (Kyou rice field, 2022/07/02). But the larva shell is not of Akiakane. Also the background has lots of space though it should be full of rice leaves those days. (It also contradicts photo No.12.) The wing of Akiakane on the photo is different from real Akiakane. At the tip of its tail, there is a hole that is drilled to remove internal organs for specimen making.

https://etcetera-japan.com/was-the-photo-66-really-taken-on-july-22nd-2022
Photo No.66. Judging from the state of the rice, the photo was taken after July 20th, and July 2nd is impossible.

https://etcetera-japan.com/is-an-insect-pin-on-akiakanes-back-in-photo-no66%e3%80%80
Photo No.66. The head of a black insect pin can be seen on the back of the Akiakane.

https://etcetera-japan.com/hisahito-does-not-know-what-the-akiakane-dragonfly-larva-looks-like
Photo No.66. The actual color of the newly emerged Akiakane and the shape of larva shell are very different from Photo No.66.

https://etcetera-japan.com/hisahitos-photo-73-and-two-photos-found-on-the-internet-look-so-much-alike
Photo No.73. The photo description says it's a Koshiaki dragonfly, but the actual wings of Koshiaki dragonfly don't look like this.

https://etcetera-japan.com/hisahitos-paper-photo-no22-might-be-photoshopped
Photo No.22. They manipulate the photo by playing around with the tone curve in Photoshop. For Example Springer Nature Group has the policy to keep image processing to a minimum and submit images that reflect the original image.

https://etcetera-japan.com/same-strange-objects-on-dragonflies-no33-and-62
Photo No.33. There is an artificial thing (similar to No.19) on the tip of 2 legs.

https://etcetera-japan.com/orthetrum-sabina-sabina-and-orthetrum-albistylum-speciosum-are-quite-different
There are mistakes in the scientific name of dragonflies. This means that there are southern dragonflies that are not supposed to be in Tokyo.(About Photo No. 81, 82, 77, and 78)

https://etcetera-japan.com/mr-s-was-given-the-runaround-seeking-the-right-answers
Some one complained to the National Museum of Nature and Science, the Agency for Cultural Affairs, and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology about the fraud in this paper, but just get the runaround from them.
Even if we ask questions, they keep ignoring us.
People sent questions by email to Takuya Kiyoshi the corresponding author, too, but no correspondence from him.

In other words, these mysterious dragonflies are a new discovery that has never been seen before by humans. Please cover them and share them with the world.
