Approach to the BC
July 30th : Japan to New Delhi.
July 31st : Visited Japanese Embassy and IMF office. We met Mr. Chandra Shaker, our Liaison Officer, at IMF office. He is thirty-five years old and from Mumbai city. He helped us throughout the expedition.
August 1st : Moved to Leh by the morning flight from Delhi. We visited our agent "Hidden Himalaya".
August 2nd : Preparation. We bought fix ropes and some food at Leh bazaar and visited Hemis Gompa and Tikse Gompa.
August 3rd : Leh to Lamayuru by chartered car. At Lamayuru, we visited school and played with the local children.
August 4th : Visited Lamayuru Gompa in the morning and moved to Sanku by cars. From Sanku, we enjoyed the beautiful landscape of Mt.Nun and Mt.Kun.
August 5th : Sanku to Padum. Padum is the only town and administrative center in Zanskar. We saw many new buildings and construction sites in this town.
August 6th : Stayed in Padum. We went trekking to the hill above 4400m near the town for acclimatization. We felt sick because of high altitude.
August 7th : Padum to Anmu by road. Anmu is the opposite village of Tsetan and the terminal of the traffic road. Two horsemen and eight horses joined our team.
August 8th : The first day of walking caravan started from Anmu to Purne.
August 9th : Suddenly an accident happened. When we were walking to Testa, two horses fell from a narrow path under the cliff. The baggage slipped down from the horses into the river. The rapid current of the river carried away our baggage and we couldn't do anything. Two horses escaped by themselves and luckily were not seriously hurt, only with minor cuts. We lost LO's equipment, eight ice axes, forty snow bars, twenty ice screw pitons, sixty plain carabineers, one bottle of fuel and etc..
August 10th : We went down to the river to search for the lost baggage. However, we couldn't trace the lost baggage and finally gave up. We decided to send our member to Delhi tOBuy new equipment.
August 11th : Masayuki Harada, the senior member of our expedition, and LO started to gOBack to Delhi in order to purchase climbing equipments. The student members, Shuhei Yoshida, Kazu Ghalamkari, Mizuho Kajita, and local staffs started to go to Lenak valley to set up the BC. The later party reached Shanka, a small village with only four houses.
