【JAL x DLSU x Re-Generation】Operated a social entrepreneur human resources development program for Gen-Z/U30 from around the world to help solve global issues with the theme of the Philippines.

On December 15-16, 2023, Re-Generation Association, in collaboration with Japan Airlines Co., Ltd. (JAL) and De La Salle University (DLSU), held "Designing SDGs + Beyond ~A platform where SDGs frontliners generate."

The SDGs are the goals that must be achieved by 2030 for humankind to continue living on this planet.
While awareness of the SDGs is growing, solutions to the SDGs and human resource development that contributes to solutions are lacking. Therefore, we have developed a social entrepreneur human resource development program called  "Designing SDGs + Beyond ~A platform where SDGs frontliners generate~" for Gen-Z/U30 who will create the future after 2030, to contribute to solving global issues.

In August 2023, Re-Generation staff members traveled to the Philippines and conducted on-site research to develop this program, and were able to develop a high-quality program by actually experiencing the Philippines and exchanging opinions with people at the local institutions.

The planning and operation of this workshop was conducted in cooperation with the University Student Government (USG) of De La Salle University, a prestigious university in the Philippines, and Japan Airlines Co., Ltd. (JAL).
Re-Generation provided its expertise in planning and developing various workshops throughout Japan.

The program was held in English and online over two days. The 1st day devoted to acquiring knowledge and setting issues related to the SDGs, and the 2nd day to researching and introducing initiatives in each country and seeking solutions.

【Day1: Enhance SDG expertise】 Analyze the current status of SDGs and set issues by sharing lectures from professionals and initiatives in your country.

The event started with a lecture. We invited professionals from each country to give lectures with the aim of enhancing their expertise on the SDGs.
Dr. Francisco from De La Salle University participated and gave an overview of the SDGs in the Philippines. And, Mr. Maeda from Japan Airlines joined us and gave a lecture on SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) as a case study of SDGs in the company.

After the lecture, participants were divided into groups and conducted a workshop with the flow of "Understanding the current situation→What you can do as an individual→What social impact this will have." We adopted a theme setting and method that easily reflected the cultural backgrounds and values of the participants, creating an environment that facilitated the creation of solutions to social issues that transcend national borders.

Conduct intense discussions in a short period of time by presenting the overview always
Participants discussed and presented each other on commonalities among SDGs of interest to deepen their understanding of the SDGs.

【Day2: SDGs + Beyond】 Explored ways to solve the SDGs issues and envisioned the future society which Gen-Z/U30 should create.

On the 2nd day, participants discussed ways to solve the issues set up on the previous day. The workshop was conducted across borders while setting up online whiteboards and other devices to facilitate discussion.

Each day, discussions were followed by presentations, Q&A sessions, and mentor critiques. The quality of the discussions was ensured by providing time for multiple critiques from professionals.Participants also asked each other questions, which enabled them to share and gain a deeper understanding of social conditions, people's culture, and values.

【Participants' reviews】 Gen-Z/U30 from all over the world, including Germany, Australia, and the Philippines, participated in this event.

We were able to learn about the SDGs efforts of companies and organizations that are active on the frontlines and think about solving global issues with each other's different backgrounds and values!

Luis Soriano Cervantes(University of Technology Sydney/AIESEC Australia)

"I really liked the workshops as it did encourage people from different backgrounds to collaborate with one another and present their own ideas and motivations. I also liked the involvement of various people from reputable companies/organizations that helped us gain insight on the different issues and hurdles to overcome."

I was able to learn about the current status and issues of the SDGs in other countries easily online! I was able to think from a global perspective while in Japan!

Kunio Kato (Working at city hall/Graduated Osaka University)

"I had thought that the SDGs were only well-known in Japan. However, through the program, I realized for the first time that the participants were aware of issues common to the world and that the SDGs are global-scale issues. We were able to have a deep discussion as we discussed the challenges and solutions from each participant's country."

Re-Generation will develop global HR of Gen-Z/U30 and create a system to envision the future of "SDGs+beyond."

Re-Generation assoc. has conducted Future Creation Workshops for Gen-Z/U30 throughout Japan and with various companies.
From now on, we will strive to realize our mission of "becoming an infrastructure for future society design" by expanding our domain to the industry and the world with our workshop development and management capabilities as our core.
Especially in the global area, we will create "a mechanism for Gen-Z/U30 youth with various cultures, backgrounds, and values to envision the future of SDGs+beyond in order to develop global leaders who can solve social issues."
