The Man Climbing The Mountain

Climbing the mountain step by step, I came to feel heavy. 

Sometimes there were people around me and sometimes there weren't anyone. 

I just walked slowly. 

There were some places where I could seat myself along the road. I occasionally took a rest there and then I walked on and on. 

At first, I was with my parents. 
But my mother passed away on our way to the summit and my father and I buried her at the cemetery. 

For the time being, I climbed with my father, but then he gradually grew exhausted and he also passed away. 

There were times when I worked in order to secure food, clothing, and shelter, however, I never stopped climbing the road. 

"Welcome."
When I rested at a cafe, a young girl came to serve me. 

She was good-natured and took readily orders, ceaselessly running in the cafe. 

I stayed and worked there for a while. 
I came to terms with the girl and she bore my son. 

When he became able to walk,
we began climbing the road together. 

But one day when he grew up, he refused to climb anymore, saying "I will live here." because he wanted to live with his mother and stay there.

I left them behind and started to climb.
I didn't know why I had to climb,
My father had never asked me to do so, but my legs kept making a move on their own. 

I cannot tell you about this sense of urgency, but I felt forced to continue climbing.
My legs and back grew weaker.
Though I could no longer find any work, I kept  climbing.

With blurred vision and a frail body, I seemed to get to the summit. 

I said to myself, "Have I reached the destination at last?"

When I took the last step,
I felt as if my body had gotten light and I were floating. 

"It seems that he fell along the way."
"There is no seeing the summit."
Surrounded by the fallen old person, one person took a look up at the mountain.
