短歌と俳句と随想と

　この頃、サクラ🌸にハマっている。高校の頃、古典の時間に「花と言えば桜」みたいな話を聞いたときにはピンと来なかったが、今では少しわかる気がする。

  Recently I've gotten interested 
in cherry blossoms.
 In my high school days,
my teacher of Japanese told 
me "Hana" meant "cherry 
blossoms" in Japanese classics.
At that time I didn't fully 
understand what he said, 
however, I gradually came 
to understand its meaning.

　チューリップ🌷でもヒマワリ🌻でも何でもいいが、「花💮」と聞くと、真っ先に想起するのは、その花が咲いている様子である。しかし、桜は違う。
 
  When you hear the word 
"flower," what kind of flowers 
come to your mind? 
Tulips, sunflowers, or what?
Any flower in your mind will 
be in bloom. But your image 
of cherry blossoms will be 
an exception.

　サクラは、満開に咲き誇る様子だけにとどまらない。風にのって散ってゆく様子も連想させる。「咲く」と「散る」という２つの異なる様態を、人をして想起せしむるところに、人は魅了されるのだろう。

Wafting petals of cherry blossoms.
Both of them mesmerize us.

　「盛り」と「衰え」。「咲く」と「散る」。目の前のサクラの様子は、人の心をうつす鏡のようだ...。

The look of cherry blossoms 
seems to be a mirror that 
reflects our minds.

　本当は俳句に気持ちをのせたいのだが、たった17文字に気持ちを詰め込むのは難しい。ならば少し多い短歌で、ということで、「春っぽい短歌」を詠む。駄作ばかりだが。季語っぽい言葉を使いながら。

  To tell the truth, I want to 
compose a haiku, however,
it is too difficult to express 
my feeling in seventeen syllables.
Instead, I will compose some 
tankas that suggest some hint of
spring.

一刹那
理性戸惑ふ
その舞ひに
ひらりひらりと
さくら力学

When you see cherry blossoms/
you might be skeptical about
Newtonian Mechanics./
The movement is beyond 
recognition.

(自作解説)
ニュートンが、リンゴ🍎ではなく、桜🌸の花びらを見ていたら、力学の法則を導けただろうか？
英訳は、5-7-5の「単語数」にしてみた。逐次訳ではありません。

知りながら
やむにやまれぬ

I've heard what's going on.
But I still cannot admit the fact.
The sole of cherry blossoms.

(自作解説)
吉田松陰のパクり。「大和魂」を「桜魂」に置き換えただけの駄作。
のどかな桜を見て、「露」と「烏」の平和を思う。
英訳は無理やり5-7-5.

一陣の
風に漂ふ
ひらひらの
軽やかな舞ひ
そっと身を寄す

A number of petals are 
being blown by a gist of wind.
I'll come closer to them.

(自作解説)
そのまま、なのですが、風が吹いてひらひらと花びらが舞うと、掌をひろげてみたくなるのです。
これも無理やりfive-seven-five。

  I composed some tankas here.
But in truth, I want to compose 
a haiku.
 Composing a haiku is, I suppose, 
similar to drawing a painting.
 A good painting will tell you 
a story and in like manner 
a good haiku will probably 
tell you about the scenery 
in the writer's mind.
 It is so difficult a task 
to compose a single haiku.
