【イギリス留学#29】賛成か反対か
今日は金曜日なので、1週間の疲れがどっと出るような日ですが、何とか頑張っていきたいと思います。今日はきちんと授業の流れをメモしていたので、昨日よりは授業の記録をちゃんと書いています。
ちなみに今日のカバー画像(サムネイル)は、街の雑貨屋に置いてあったサンタクロースの置物です。イギリスは全然ハロウィン盛り上がらなくて、クリスマスに全力を注いでいる印象があります。

Question
今日の授業は以下の質問の答えをグループで考えるという時間から始まりました。僕たちが考えた答えも簡単に載せておきます。
①Why is the animals endangered?
→Pollution/deforest
②What can be done to protect it?
→Everyone should use paper straw.
Research→Presentation
次に3人のグループでwwfというサイトを使って絶滅の危機に瀕している動物を調べて、その動物についてプレゼンすることになりました。僕たちが調べたのはSunda Tigersです。こんな感じで調べました。
Where is their habitant?
→Tropical broad leaf evergreen forests/fresh water swamp forests/past swamps
How close to extinction?
→ The last of the Sunda island tigers are holding on for survival in the remaining patches of forest on the island of Sumatra.
Why they are endangered?
→deforestation and rampant poaching
What way to protect them?
→anyone caught hunting tigers could face jail time and steep fines.
このプレゼンを終えた後に先生から”Is enough being done to protect? What else could be done?"と質問がありました。その時はあまり上手く答えられなかったので、改めて考えた解答を以下に載せておきます。
We should do more to protect tigers. For instance, we need to establish areas where tigers can live without the fear of being hunted.
Description of test
続いてテストの説明がありました。多分先週も説明されていたと思いますが、僕は休んでいたので初めて説明を受けました。ただのメモですが、以下にテストの形式を書いておきます。
【Speaking exam】
・グループと1人のテストがある。
・グループではある主張に対する強みと弱み、もしくは利益と不利益についてディスカッションする。
・他の人が言ったことに対するリスニングと返答が必要である。
・模擬テストが6週目にある。(現在は3週目)
Debate
"If animals are endangerd, are zoos an answer?"この主張に対して、賛成派と反対派に分けられてディベートをしました。とはいえ予め自分たちのグループで意見を考えて発表するだけなので、プレゼンに近かったです。
ちなみに僕たちのグループは賛成派になりました。自分たちの意見と、反対派の意見も合わせて下に書いておきます。
【Agree】
zoos are good. Because zoo can preserve animals.
zoo can make money.
zoo can give opportunity for families to see animals.
【Disagree】
zoo can't help many animals.
zoos decrease of animal population.
おわりに
次回(来週の木曜日)までに「狐の狩猟とは何か、いつから/なぜ禁止されているのか、賛成派と反対派の二つの主張を考えよ」という課題が出ました。次回までに考えておきたいと思います。
