【SS】桜色　The Color of Cherry Blossom #シロクマ文芸部

「桜色」

家族で上野公園に桜を見に行ったことがある。
よく晴れた日で、公園内は既にたくさんの人でにぎわっていた。
桜のほの白いピンクがかった花弁が、青空を背景によく映えていた。
出店も出ていて、あちこちから桜の綺麗さをほめる声や、他愛ないおしゃべりが聞こえる。

公園の桜並木を歩き、桜の木を前にして立ち止まる。
わたしは携帯を取り出し、桜の木へ向けて何枚か写真を撮った。
角度を変えたり、拡大して構図を凝こったものにしてみたり。
写真を撮って家族で眺ながめていると、突然、歩いてきた海外からの観光客に声をかけられた。

その人は、わたしと同じく、東洋系の顔立ちをした女性だった。
彼氏と二人で観光をしてまわっているようで、簡単な英語で「写真を撮ってください」と、言われた。
わたしは「オーケー」と言いながら、うなずく。
彼女の携帯を使い、彼氏と並んでいる姿を写真におさめる。何枚も写真を撮り、彼女の側に行って画面を見せた。

「これでオーケーですか？」
わたしは英語でたずねて、撮った写真をスワイプした。
彼女が彼氏の側に立ち、微笑んでいる姿。
肩に顔をあずけている姿。
彼氏の頬にキスしている姿……。

「オーケーよ。ありがとう」
彼女は微笑むと、嬉しそうに、そう言った。
わたしの手から携帯を取ると、バッグにしまいこむ。
彼女は彼氏の手に指を絡からめ、二人して公園の入り口の方へ歩いて行った。
わたしは目をしばたたかせる。
二人の後ろ姿は、桜の並木道に染められて、恋の桜色に染まっている。

桜色の春。
わたしは仲の良い二人の背中から、しばし目を離すことができなかった。

The Short Story:  The color of Cherry Blossom

  I once went to Ueno Park in Japan with my family to see the cherry blossoms.
  It was a beautiful sunny day and the park was already crowded with people.
  The white, pinkish petals of the cherry blossoms looked beautiful against the  blue sky.
  There were stalls set up, and people's chatting could be heard here and there praising the beauty of the cherry blossoms and other mundane things.

  I walked along the rows of cherry trees in the park and stopped in front of the cherry tree.
  I took out my cell phone, pointed it at the cherry tree, and took a few pictures.
  I changed the angle, enlarged the image, and made the composition of pictures more elaborate.
  As I was taking pictures and enjoying the view with my family, I was suddenly approached by a tourist from overseas who was walking by.

  She was a woman with an oriental face, just like me.
  She seemed to be sightseeing with her boyfriend and asked me in simple English to take their pictures.
  I nodded my head and said, "okay".
  Using her cell phone, I took pictures of them. After taking several pictures, I went over to her side and showed her the screen of cell phone.

"Is this okay?"
  I asked in English and swiped through the photos I had taken.
  The picture showed that she was standing beside her boyfriend, smiling.
  The another picture of that her face on his shoulder.
  The next picture that she kissed him on the cheek. ......

  She said, "Okay. Thank you."
  She was smiling and beaming.
  From my hand, she took the phone and put it in her bag.
  She intertwined her fingers with his and they left, walking towards the entrance of the park.
  I fluttered my eyes.
  The figures of them were tinted with the color of love, dyed by the rows of pink cherry trees.

  Spring, the color of cherry blossoms.
  I could not take my eyes off of their backs for a moment.
