UK Restaurant #002　Hinds Head

UKの素敵なことの一つが、ロンドン等の大都市の真ん中もさることながら、少し田舎であったり、小さな街でも綺麗な街並みがあって、物語の中の街に迷い込んだような素敵な風景をみれることだと僕は思っています。クルマで都市から大分離れたところまで走っても、山道の途中に急に立派なマナーハウス（貴族の家）が現れたり、お洒落なレストランがポツンとあったりと、UKの醍醐味は田舎にあると言って間違いないでしょう。

それを象徴するようなVillageがBrayという村で、しかもBrayはミシュランの星付きの店が狭い村の中に二つもあり、のんびりとした穏やかな時間が流れています。正にUKの素敵なことの一つを体現しているのがこのBrayになると思います。

Fabulous atmosphere

お店の情報はお店のホームページに載っていますのでそちらをご覧頂ければ興味がある情報が得られると思いますが、流石にミシュランの三ツ星が付くだけはあって、ホスポタリティのあるサーブを受けられるし、もちろん料理は文句をつける余地なく美味しいものです。また、お店も500年前に作られたという建物はとても綺麗に使われていて、当時の歴史を知るのにもとても興味深い場所になっています。

食事の前にお店のスタッフの方々とお話するのもとても楽しいですし、少し早めにレストランに到着してテムズ川の周辺を散歩してから食事に向かうというのも良いかも知れません。

スタッフの皆さんとお話すると、やはりミシュランの星を維持するのはとても大変なことの様で、そんなスタッフの皆さんの努力の成果を雰囲気も含めて頂くというのは、本当に至福のひと時だなと思いました。

予約を取るのが少し難しいと思いますが、少し前から予約をして行く価値は十分ありますので、是非大切な人と大切な時を過ごしたいときにお薦めします。

Nice traditional interior 

One of the wonderful things about the UK is that not only can you find charming places in the heart of big cities like London, but even in the countryside and smaller towns, you can encounter beautiful streetscapes that make you feel like you've wandered into a storybook. Even if you drive far from the city, you might suddenly come across a grand manor house in the middle of a mountain road or find a stylish restaurant standing alone. The true charm of the UK lies in its countryside.

A village that exemplifies this charm is Bray. Despite being a small village, Bray is home to two Michelin-starred restaurants, and it exudes a peaceful, leisurely atmosphere. This village truly embodies one of the many delightful aspects of the UK.

Chatting with the restaurant staff before your meal can be very enjoyable. Arriving a bit early to take a stroll along the Thames River before dining is also a wonderful idea.

Talking with the staff reveals how challenging it is to maintain Michelin stars. Appreciating the results of their hard work, including the ambiance, makes for a truly blissful experience.

Getting a reservation might be a bit difficult, but it’s definitely worth booking well in advance. I highly recommend visiting these restaurants when you want to spend a special time with a special person.

クルマで付近をドライブするのもお勧めですが、電車の場合にも、Maidenhead駅からも歩ける距離なのでロンドンからも一時間位で到着できます。
