昔自分の『新・竹取物語』と言う詩の転化： 『竹取飛翔』(和訳済み）Bamboo-Cutter's Flight

(O Princess Kaguya, 
from immortal-cloven green bamboo-stalk below was birth'd,
to and towards immortal-glowing pale moonlight-screen above,
in that imperishable flight of the eastern-most night of nights,
the imperishable imperishable---eternally-unreturning---she for-evermore goes!)
『かぐや姫よ、
不朽(ふきゅう）の二つ割れの、青竹の節より生まれし
不朽に輝く青白い月光の、屛風（びょうぶ）の上へ、
不滅なる最も東方の東の、あの夜の夜夜長（よよなが）の飛翔の中で
不朽不滅足るものーー彼女は永久に渡って戻ることはないだろうーーあの『永劫不帰』とと言う*1の飛翔の中で！』

she removed her haori 羽織, most beauteous-made
silken of earth's most silk-knowing silkworms.
and stretched her arms long and slender extended 
while holding back a drowsy yawn,
 and her face with a slivering-tint of shy and cheeky Moonflowers
彼女は羽織を脱いだ。
地球上で最も絹を知り尽くした蚕の美しい絹織物である。
細長く伸びた腕を伸ばして、眠いあくびをこらえながら。
そしてその顔は、一縷の内気で生意気な
月見草のような色合いを帯びていた。

stroked happily that slightly open yawning-mouth with her warm little hand,
then after which she turned to, and bade,
all those who listen are with a perked ear:
そのわずかに開いたあくび口を、彼女の温かい小さな手で
嬉しそうに撫でた、
その後、彼女は向かって告げった、
耳を傾ける者は皆、耳を尖らせている：
"O Man, thus prithee ply thy good offices!
Mayst thou good offices would employ find.
I shall here be humbly excused."
「嗚呼　それでは、諸君諸臣
良きに計らえや
良き計らえませもうす。
わらわはここで謹んで失礼いたしませもうす」
"Tonight I shall make a nightly stroll; I shall make amble.
Viewing the wondrous Moon tonight while I walk.
Till my royal palanquin should arrive,
and upon my palanquin, to my royal palace-place I should return."
「今夜は夜の散策をしもうす；
散歩をしましょう。
今夜は不思議な月を眺めながら歩こう、
わらわの乗る姫の輿が到着するまで。
わらわは輿を乗っての姫の宮に帰ろう。"」
Finishing her sentence, without waiting for her
Ladies-in-waiting, she divests her kosode (小袖)
and leave exposed to the fragrant night-air her skin-
-Juban (肌襦袢)
彼女は言葉を切り、侍女たちを待たずに、
小袖を脱ぎ捨て、香り高い夜風の中で
肌襦袢を露出させました。

with her under-kimono wet as if met with a cloud of flowers' tearing dew
She bade:" Well then, fare-thee-well", that was what she said
and turned away from men and women
towards the high and distant eternal moon,
she promptly took flight.
花曇り様な露に濡れた着物の下に居る肌着だ。
彼女はこう述べった。
「それでは、ご機嫌麗しゅう様に」と言って、
男女から背を向けた。
高く遠い永遠の月を向かって、
彼女は直ちに空に立ち飛翔する。


riding on neither heaving Labour's wings,
nor outrageous Fortune's winds;
rising ever upwards dauntless, without down-gyved fear or remorse,
knowing she ne doom-bound corporal unrest,
nor to yield to outwearing many-otherworldly mystic bore-dom.
修業修道の葦船で波風に揺られることも、
怨念満ちた浮世の漣風に吹かれることもなく；
上昇し続ける
臆することなく
恐怖も後悔もなく
下向きの束縛はなく
彼女が無常の疲弊で縛られる肉体の運命を知らず、
数多な他生他界の神秘よりただ無益に魂を退屈する光景に
屈服することも知らない。

towards the Moon she has set the aim of her flight,
and at the midway of her path through the lonely Air,
her princess-palanquin the Moon-Car comes and for her stops to wait,
and sounds its honking clarion out of eastern mist:
"Honk! Honk!"
月に向かって、彼女は飛翔の彼方を定めた、
そして、孤独な大空の中を進む途中、
彼女の姫駕籠である月の車がやって来る、
そして、東の霧の中よりクラリオン*2を鳴り響かせる：
「鳴らせ、プィー！プィー！」


upwards still she fans herself,
till her only kimono dissolves into a wisp of nightshade-purple smoke,
She alighted within the turmoil of worldly illusions,
and found and entered her self-enformed car in the place
where it waited.
彼女は自分自身を羽ばたかせる、
自分の唯一の着物が一朧の夜色紫煙の中に
溶け融け、姿を消すまで尚
凡夢の乱れの中に降り立ち、
自らの形成した車を待つ場所で見つけ入った。

reunited with her bodily carriage,
Princess Kaguya begins her
380,000 Kilometers-journey back to the Moon.
体の乗り物と再会した輝夜は、
三十八万キロメートルの月への旅に出る
As the Wheels of her Palanquin turn,
below her on the earth, apart from in the vast field the wonder-struck blind and deaf-mute men, women and children,
彼女の輿の車輪が回る中、
大地の広大な野原にあるのはその不思議に打たれ、盲目と聾唖となった男、女と子供たち。
there is only the sound of the murmuring sea of bamboo leaves,
竹の葉の海のささやき以外に、聞こえるのは竹林の海の、
within the rolling swooshes and quiet rumbles of the bamboo grove's Ocean,
穏やかな揺れと静かなうねりだけだった。
shining and swaying deep unprobeable eternally
白く黄ばんだ月明かりの下で、深く探れぬ永遠に
under the pale wan moonlight, though it
光り揺らぐ姿を見せる。ただこの瞬間に
momentarily was concealed by the heavenly shades
その頭上は運ぶ天の影に一時隠れていた
of Kaguya's car headlong towards the Eternal Moon,
永遠の月を向かって前へ運ぶあの輝夜姫の車の影で
from the cleft bamboo-stalk made cot-bed,
竹取り割れた竹の節と幹で作った寝床から、
that started her imperishable Eternal eastern flight.
彼女の滅ぼせぬ永遠な東の飛翔が始まった。


これは『竹取人の飛翔』だ。
this is "the flight of the bamboo-cutter".

*1 永劫不帰 eternal un-return or eternal unrecurrence :
the poetic eternal un-return, the reverse of the philosophical eternal return.
inspired by author Edgar Allan Poe's "Nevermore" from his poem "the Raven".
物事と現象が永劫に渡って二度と再度発生することがないこと。
哲学の「永劫回帰」と言う概念の裏側で存在する詩学的概念。
