Japanese elementary school students in Akita are planning to send letters to encourage children in Tonga, following the huge undersea volcanic eruption and tsunami disaster. They wrote messages in both Japanese and English,encouraging them not to give up and sharing hopes that the country will recover quickly.

Public health centers are stretched to the limit with the increased workload due to the pandemic. Mia will give us more details. Mia?

Hi, I'm Mia. Some public health centers appear to be struggling to keep up with the increased workload| arising from the surge in coronavirus cases. More than 40,000 daily cases have been confirmed nationwide for the last 48 days. The emergence and spread of the highly transmissible omicron variant has thrown a monkey wrench in their works. In a bid to reduce their burden, the government told health centers to scale down contact tracing. Noah?
