ウィーン旅行記
概要(Overview)
ひょんなことからウィーン弾丸二日旅行を計画。
By chance, we planned a two days trip to Vienna.
飛行機やホテルの予約、
Booking flights and hotels,
なにより海外旅行を自分たち自身で計画すること自体未知の経験で、
Above all, it was vary first experience for us to plan an overseas by ourselves.
実際旅行の楽しみよりも安全に帰ってこれるかの不安のほうが少しばかり勝っていた。
We were a little more worried about our safety than excitement.
でもいざ旅行に出発してみるとそんな気持ちも吹っ切れて、
But when we finally set off on a trip, these feelings blowed away.
歴史あるウィーンの街並みを存分に楽しめました。
We were able to enjoy the historic city of the Vienna.
天気に恵まれた二日間は快晴で、
The weather was fine for two days,
驚きの３０度越え。
It was surprisingly over 30 degrees Celsius.
湿度も高いような気がして、
Felt like the humidity was also very high,
少しばかり故郷日本の鬱陶しい夏の熱さを思い出したような気がします。
it reminded us a little of the dreary summer heat in Japan.
忘れてしまわないように文字に書き起こして、
Not to forget it, I'd like to write it down here,
思い出に浸りたいと思います。
and soak in the memories.
一日目 Day 1
未成年故の軽率な旅行計画によって旅の始まりは午前三時から。
Due to indiscreet travel plans as youngers, the trip started at 3am.
寝てしまうと起きられないような気がしたので、
We thought that if we went to bed we wouldn't be able to get up,
連れと大学の図書館で夜を明かすことを心に決めました。
We decided to stay up all night together.
午後１１時頃、図書館に集合し、
We met at the university library at around 11pm.
午前一時、追い出されました。
At 1am, we were kicked out…
行く当てもう失い、外で放浪せざるを得ない状況になったわけですが、
We had become nowhere man and been forced to wander outside.
なんと連れのホストマザーが家に匿ってくれました。
Surprisingly, my friend's host mother took me into her house.
感謝感謝です。
I am very grateful for that.
最近お気に入りの幼児向け番組パディントンを見て、
Watching Paddington, which is my favourite children's TV show these days,
気づけば時間もよい頃合いになっていたので、
after that, it's been the best time to go to bus station.
やっと僕たちの旅は始まりを告げたのでした。
Our journey had finally begun.
三時間ほどバスに揺られ、
After a three- hour bus ride,
空港に着き、チェックインや荷物検査諸々を終え、
we arrived at the airport, completed check-in and baggage checks.
ついに飛行機へ搭乗と思いきや、
We thought we were finally boarding the plane,
さすが格安飛行機会社、案の定遅延し、
As expected of a low-cost airline, the flight was delayed.
三十分遅れほどでウィーン国際空港に到着。
We arrived at Vienna International Airport about 30 min late.
シティセンター直結のCATという鉄道サービスで急いでウィーンの中心地に向かいます。
We took the CAT train service which takes us to the centre of Vienna in a hurry.
なぜならばある有名なカフェの予約時間が迫っていたから。
Because it was about booking time of famous café.
そこはケーキの王様といわれるザッハトルテの発祥の地。
There is the birthplace of the Sachertorte a.k.a. the king of cakes.
何とかカフェに無事着いて、念願のケーキを食べることができました。
We managed to get to the café and had the dream cake.
濃厚なチョコレートも甘すぎず、
The rich chocolate but not too sweet,
軽やかなスポンジ生地のチョコケーキと中には甘酸っぱいアプリコットジャム。
with light sponge dough and sweet and sour apricot jam inside.
口に入れるたびに自然と笑顔になるこのケーキ。
This cake naturally brings a smile to your face every time you put it in your mouth.
ウィーンに来た際は是非。

次にお目当てのシェーンブルン宮殿に向かいました。
Next, we went to Schönbrunn Palace.
かの有名なハプスブルク家の離宮の一つであり、
This is one of the Habsburgs' most famous palaces,
マリアテレジアの末っ子マリーアントワネットが幼少期を過ごしたとされています。
Marie-Antoinette, the youngest daughter of Maria Theresa, is said to have spent her childhood there.
ウィーン会議で有名な「会議は踊るされど進まず」の文句は
The famous phrase from the Congress of Vienna, "The Congress dances, but it does not proceed"
ここで生まれました。
was born here.
金箔で装飾された宮殿内は息をのむほどの美しさで、
The palace interior, decorated with gold leaf, is breathtakingly beautiful,
部屋ごとに壁紙のデザイン、色が変わったり、
Each room has different wallpaper designs and colours,
飾られている絵画一つ一つも手の凝ったものです。
and each painting is elaborately decorated.
庭園は無料開放されていますがぜひ見学ツアーに参加することをお勧めします。
The gardens are open to the public free of charge, but it is highly recommended to take a tour.
宮殿見学、庭園を楽しんだ後は体力を振り絞ってグロリエッテの近くまで軽く登山しました。
After visiting the palace and enjoying the gardens, we made the most of our energy and hiked up to the Gloriette.
三十度越えの気候と夜通し起きていた体にはさすがに堪えましたが、
It was a tough climb for my body, which had been up all night in 30+ degree weather.
（１５分から２０分くらいで頂上まで行けます）
(it only takes 15-20 minutes to get to the top).
登り切った後の頂上から一望できるウィーンの街並みは忘れられません。
The view of the city of Vienna from the top after the climb is unforgettable.
なかなか写真では伝わらないのですが宮殿に真っすぐ伸びる道や、
It's hard to convey in pictures, but the roads leading straight up to the palace
いたるところに顔を出す教会の尖塔、
and the churches that appear everywhere,
街を駆け回る路面電車。
The trams that run around the city.
ウィーンならではの景色を堪能できました。
I was able to enjoy the unique view of Vienna.
ベンチでアイスを頬張り、
We enjoyed an ice-cream on a bench,
体力も回復したところでコンサート会場へと向かいました。
After ice cream break, we headed for the concert venue.
生憎ウィーン国立歌劇場のコンサートのチケットは入手できなかったもののウィーン楽友協会のチケットを見つけて急いで予約。
Unfortunately, tickets for the Vienna State Opera concert were not available, but I found a ticket for the Musikverein and quickly booked it.
全体が惜しみなく金で装飾されたコンサートホールは、
The concert hall is lavishly decorated with gold,
果てしなくまぶしく、荘厳で、絢爛華麗でした。
It was endlessly dazzling, majestic and opulent.
モーツァルトの弦楽四重奏曲から始まり、ヴィヴァルディの四季、
The concert began with Mozart's String Quartet, followed by Vivaldi's Four Seasons and Haydn.
ハイドンと世界に名を馳せる音楽家の傑作を本場ウィーンで堪能できて至福の時間を過ごせました。
I spent a blissful time enjoying the masterpieces of world-renowned musicians in their home city of Vienna
クラシックにはそこまで精通していないのですが、
I am not that familiar with classical music,
最高の場所で最高の音を聴く経験は生まれて初めてで、
It was the first time in my life that I had the experience of listening to the best sound in the best place,
一つ一つの楽器からそれぞれの感情や情景が浮かんできて、
I could feel the emotions and scenes from each of the instruments,
空間を通して一つの曲になる。
Through the space, it becomes a piece of music.
音楽は素晴らしいと心から感じました。
I really felt that music is wonderful.
クラシックに浸された僕たちは好奇心に動かされて、
Immersed in classical music, our curiosity got the better of us,
夜のウィーンを散策することに。
We decided to explore Vienna at night.
ため息が出るほどきれいなウィーンの街並みは飽きることはないでしょう。
We will never get tired of the sigh-inducingly beautiful city of Vienna.
無事にホテルにも到着し一日目を終えたのでした。
We arrived safely at our hotel and finished day one.
二日目
ホテルの朝御飯がまさかのオプションだったので、
渋々諦めて街に出ました。
少しばかり歩いていると街のいたるところで、
地元の方々がのんびりとカフェで談笑していたのが印象的でした。
平日の何の変哲もない朝なのに、
まるで休日のようにみなゆっくり過ごしている。
僕たちもその輪に入ることにしました。
ふらっと立ち寄ったカフェでフルーツいっぱいのフレンチトーストをいただきました。
エナジーを補給したところで二日目はシュテファン大聖堂へと向かいます。
１４世紀ころに完成した大聖堂は静かにウィーンを見守ってきました。
モーツァルトの結婚式、葬儀、またペストで亡くなられた約２０００万人の遺骨が眠っているなど、
歴史ある大聖堂です。
屋根には特徴的なハプスブルク家の紋章が確認できます。
教会を後にした僕たちはその足で世界一美しいといわれる図書館へ向かいます。
天井の壁画やずっしりと並ぶ本の数々、
オーストリア帝国の権威が垣間見えます。
一番僕が気に入ったポイントは香りでした。
２０万冊の歴史ある書物から香る言葉にできないあの香りは行ってみないとわからない。
おばあちゃんちの優しいにおいのようで、
だけれど少し冷たくて、土っぽい。
たまらなく好きなにおいでした。
うっとりしていると時間は颯爽と過ぎて行って、
お腹もすいたので足を進めることにしました。
二日目のお昼はオーストリア名物のシュニッツェルを頂くことにしました。
噂では聞いていたもののいざ実物と対面するとその大きさに圧倒されました。
老店舗フィグルミュラーさんのシュニッツェルということもあって、
味に関しては満点です。
薄めにカットされた豚は歯ごたえがしっかりあり、包み込む衣は薄くサクッと軽やかな口触り。
シンプルイズベストとはまさにこのこと。
しかし半分くらいを食べ終えた辺りからお腹の表情は曇っていきます。
うぅ、キツイ。
二人で半分づつ頂くのが最善ではというのが僕の感想です。
無事完食し、満足した僕たちはトラムに揺られながら再び街並みを噛みしめ、
帰路についたのでした。
初めての自分たちだけの海外旅行。
オーストリアを選んで本当に良かったと思います。
また来たいな。
