学校英語にプラスしたい基礎英会話のインプット｜PeppaPig③飛行機で旅行の巻（4分34秒）
イギリス発の幼児向けアニメ「Peppa Pig」の主人公は４歳のPeppaという子豚ちゃん。Peppaの英語も、また登場する家族やお友達の英語も、複雑な文法は使わず、シンプル単語でゆっくりはっきり話すため、基礎英語の耳づくりにもってこいな番組です。その上、YouTubeで１話５分ほどの手軽さも嬉しい限り。
幼児番組といえども、ネイティブ4歳児であるPeppaの英語力は、シンプルながら実に自由自在。身の周りのことや日常の出来事を、シンプル英語でたっぷり聴かせてくれます。レベル感は中学英語で学ぶ内容くらいなので、基礎英語を固めながら、ネイティブ英語に慣れるため初期段階のインプット教材としてお勧めです。
中学英語で不足しがちな本物英語のインプット、まずは「Peppa Pig」でプラスしてみる具体例をまとめました：
① まずはそのまま観てみる
YouTube👇で、0:00-4:34までの「Flying on Holiday」を再生。
🐷 余裕で理解できれば「Peppa Pig」必要なし。他の英語圏の番組や動画をどんどん観ましょう。
🐷だいたい聴き取れて理解できる場合、そのまま２〜３回繰り返し観て、聴き取れる幅を広げてみましょう。
🐷 ぜんぜん聞き取れなくても大丈夫。②に進みます。
② 英語字幕＋0.75倍速で観てみる
YouTubeの歯車マークの設定で、速度を0.75倍にして、英語字幕をONにします。これで１回観てみます。
🐷「おっ、結構わかりそうだぞ」となったら、そのまま２〜３回観てみましょう。内容もつかめてきたら、通常スピードに戻して数回観て、耳を慣らします。
🐷 ちょっと聞き取れるけれど、まだまだ「？？？」でも大丈夫。③に進みます。
③ スクリプトを読んでみる
このエピソードの英語を文字起こししたスクリプトを読んでみます👇 文字で見ると理解できたりもします。単語の説明も少々含めました。
🐷 「読んでもわからんぞ」の場合は、もう少し簡単なインプット材料が必要なので、またご紹介させてください♪
🐷 「なるほど〜、こういうことを言っていたのね〜」と内容がわかったら、英字幕あり+0.75倍速で、また気が向いた時に数回観てみましょう。

Peppa and George are going on holiday.
They are packing their bags.
[Daddy Pig] You can’t pack everything.
[Peppa] But we need to take all our toys daddy!
[Daddy Pig] Just take the important ones.
[Peppa] Okay. I’ll take Teddy and George can take dinosaur.

Peppa and George are packing their suitcases.
Mummy pig is packing a big bag for the holiday.
[Daddy Pig] That’s a lot of stuff, Mummy pig.
Are you sure we need it all?

繰り返し（５回くらいは）観てみる
全て理解できなくても大丈夫。日本語訳も避けましょう。語学の「習うより慣れる」のためには、英語学習に並行して、これくらいの量の英語にまとめて触れることがグッド。画像と英字幕からヒントを得て、勘を使って、大まかな意味を掴みながら何度か観てみると、少しずつ理解できる幅が広がっていきます。
１日１エピソード、4分34秒。0.75倍速のゆっくり再生でも６分ちょっと。同じ日に何度も観る必要はなく、何日かに渡って観ることで、無理なく耳を慣らしていきます。
（注）くれぐれもPeppa Pig修行にならぬよう、何十回も観ることのないよう、楽しく、気軽に、勉強感ゼロ、これが大事です。
イギリス英語とアメリカ英語で違う単語
