雲門舞集／クラウドゲイト・ダンスカンパニー『水月／Moon Water』林懷民 振付：バッハのチェロ曲で月夜の湖に遊ぶ
台湾のコンテンポラリーダンスカンパニー、雲門舞集（Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan）は、林懷民（Lin Hwai-min）氏が1973年に創設。同氏は、カンパニー作品の振付も多く行った。
イギリスのサドラーズ・ウェルズ劇場でも上演された『水月／Moon Water』の公演映像が、期間限定で無料公開された。2008年、台湾の劇場で録画されたものだ。約1時間5分。
太極拳の教え、「エネルギーは水のように流れ、水の精神は月のように輝く（Energy flows as water, water's spirit shines as the moon.）」と、仏教の教え、「鏡の中の花と、水に映る月は、どちらも幻影だ（Flowers in the mirror and moon on the water are both illusory.）」からインスピレーションを得た作品だそうだ。（映像冒頭の同氏による英語の説明から）
音楽は、バッハのチェロの曲。ラストではチェロの演奏が途切れ、水の音が流れるシーンもある。
舞台の上には鏡があり、舞台には月明かりのような照明（？）と水がある。ラストでは、ダンサーたちが水を切って動く。
まさに月夜に湖面の近くを散歩しているような気分になるダンスだ。生で見たら、静謐な空間に包み込まれる感覚を得られるかもしれない。
1人、2人、数人、多数と、ダンサーたちが現れては消え、文字通り流れるように動く。緩急の付け方が絶妙だ。太極拳っぽい動きや、祈りのような動きがある。ダンサーたちの体や、その周囲の空間に、「気」が巡っていく。
行ったことはないはずだが、なぜか懐かしい、太古の世界へ連れていかれるよう。

World-renowned Cloud Gate Dance Theatre was Taiwan’s first contemporary dance company. Revered around the world, Cloud Gate first visited Sadler’s Wells in 1999, and since then has continued to stun audiences with its unique choreography, transforming ancient aesthetics into a modern celebration of motion.
Set to Bach’s Suites for Solo Cello, founding director Lin Hwai-min’s Moon Water was first performed at Sadler’s Wells in 2002. Inspired by the Buddhist proverb ‘Flowers in a mirror and moon on the water are both illusive’, multiple mirrors and gently moving water gradually fill the stage and reflect the dancers’ movements in a beautifully meditative performance.
