【Native English Diary】9日目～International friends in Yokohama
皆さんこんにちは！私は日本に来てから色んな国の人たちと仲良くなりました😊
この間友達に会って一緒に横浜行ってきたのでその話を英語でしたいと思います！！
この日記は、ネイティブ英語を読みながら勉強したい方や、在日外国人の日常に興味のある方のために書いています。

Day 9
Welcome back to my Diary! How are you guys spending Golden Week this year?
Now that I'm working in freelance, I think I'll be spending it as always… (as always = いつも通り)
But recently, I had a great day off meeting with my friends in Yokohama.
I met these friends at my last job working at an international hotel. Many of the staff are international, so everybody I met with is from different countries around the world.
The members who joined us for this day off were from: Thailand, Vietnam, China, USA, and Japan. (Unfortunately, I can't show their faces for privacy reasons)
It's exciting to hang out with people from different countries. (hang out = 遊ぶ)
Everybody has a different native language, so we usually speak a mix of Japanese and English.
Did you know, when bilingual people speak a mix of Japanese and English, it's called Japanglish? 😂
It's comforting to talk to other people who have experience living in Japan as a foreigner. We often talk about the struggles and difficulties together.
This time, we met in Chinatown and tried a bunch of street food!
※a bunch of = 「たくさん」という意味でカジュアルな言い方！
After that, we took a walk to the Red Brick Warehouse, where we went shopping and took photos at the spring flowers display.
We also took a walk through Cosmo World. We got some coffees there and chatted for awhile at a picnic table.
We thought about if we should go on the roller coaster… but we decided that we were too scared.
※「ジェットコースター」は和製英語なので注意してください！
On the way from Cosmo World to the station, we were taking some photos when we found… another foreigner!
Foreigners in Japan are quite rare, especially during the recent situation.
He was probably also surprised to see us, so he said hi to us and offered to take our picture. He had a cute son too!
We talked to him for awhile and then left to go home.
We said goodbye on the train. We were a bit sad to say goodbye, because one of the members was leaving to go back home to Thailand.
I was sad that I wouldn't see her for awhile, but I'm excited to meet her one day again in Bangkok!
Overall, it was a great day off and I enjoyed the opportunity to use English in my daily life in Japan.
