Losing people I cherish and love,
I realize how empty I've been.
External strength, external pain,
Were all I felt within.
Swaying right and left.
Hoping and despairing.
Going up and down.
Passively living, always receiving.
Not having my heart, intentions, emotions,
that came from my own mind.

Wandering this world
Seeking my shelter to no avail
I have known it all along, deep inside
that it is nowhere to be found.

The gentle breeze caresses my cheek.
Sitting beside the still, mossy rock.
Reading poems in the shade of the tree,
Tears streaming down my face.

I finally stand up,
Looking straight towards where the sunlight is coming from.
I wipe my tears away
and smile,
My eyes filled with light.
I unclasp the book,
Hearing the sound as it hits the ground.
Leaving this beloved garden that I have stayed for too long.
