ブルーベル　負けるなとなりの　たんぽぽに

ブルーベルの季節も終わり、これからラベンダーの季節になります。
イギリスではたんぽぽの生命力の強さにしばしば圧倒されますが、可憐に、でも一時には咲き誇るブルーベルの姿をとなりのたんぽぽを見ながら詠んでみました。一寸、判官贔屓なところがあるかもしれません。たんぽぽさん気を悪くしないでね。
小林一茶の、「やせ蛙　負けるな一茶　ここにあり」の句をふっと思い出します。

Bluebells,
Never give up
Against the neighboring dandelions

The season of bluebells has ended, and now the season of lavender begins. In England, I am often overwhelmed by the resilience of dandelions, but I composed a poem looking at the delicate yet fleeting beauty of the bluebells next to the dandelions. Perhaps this shows a bit of sympathy for the underdog. Dandelions, please don't take offense. This reminds me of Kobayashi Issa's haiku, "Skinny frog, don't give up, Issa is here."
