名言との再会 | Reunion with Wisdom

　私の知恵は、ユースドです。なぜなら、それが私にとってとても役立ったからです。私が使い始めたときよりも、今の方が価値があります。それはヒトミエネルギーで充電された知恵だからです。ヒトミの知恵を伝えるとき、私の中にスペースができて、宇宙がそのスペースを今度は埋めようとするでしょう。

　My wisdom is used, because it has been so useful to me. I have used it and so it has more value now than when it was new to me. It is wisdom charged with Hitomi-energy. As I pass down with Hitomi wisdom. I free-up space that will be filled by the universe.

　先日、私がまだアパレル店長を務めていた時代に共に働いていた仲間で、今は起業を目指しているYさんが、私のアドバイスを求めて、久しぶりにランチをすることになりました。Yさんとは、私が独立する前日まで一緒に働いていたのですが、私が店の同僚たちに独立宣言をした日、「ひとみさんは、独立してください！」と彼女から励まされたことが鮮明に記憶に残っています。

Recently, Ms.Y, a colleague from the days when I was still managing an apparel store and who is now aiming to start her own business, reached out for my advice, leading us to arrange a lunch meeting after a long time. Ms.Y had worked with me up until the day before I declared my independence to my colleagues at the store. I vividly remember how she encouraged me on the day I announced my intention to go independent, saying, "Hitomi, you should definitely go independent!"

　独立後、1度お会いしたきりなので、15年以上ぶりです。私はあまり外見が変わっていない自負がありますが、彼女はどうでしょう？　彼女はアパレルブランドで店長として働いており、やはりほとんど外見が変わっていなかったのです。40代になると、変わらずにいること自体が努力を要するようになるものです。笑顔でそんな話をしながら、私たちは過去の同僚の話などに花を咲かせ、今一瞬、その場所にタイムスリップをしたかのような、爆笑の渦でした。

　Since we had only met once after starting my own business, it has been over 15 years. I pride myself on not having changed much in appearance, but what about her? She has been working as a manager at an apparel brand, and indeed, she seemed to have hardly changed at all. Once you reach your 40s, maintaining your appearance without change requires effort. Sharing laughs over such conversations, we reminisced about our former colleagues and other pastimes, creating a moment that felt like a slip in time, engulfed in bursts of laughter.

　そして、彼女の起業のプランを聞き、新しい視点を提供し、それから私の起業前から起業してからのロングストーリーをシェアすることになりました。全て話すのは無理なので、ほんの一部です。私の話は、主に失敗談で構成されており、その中には人生を変える名言が数多く含まれています。これらの話をYさんは「メモさせてください」と言いながら、熱心に記録していました。

　I listened to her business plan, offered new perspectives, and then shared my long story of the journey from before I started my own business to where I am now. It was just a fraction of the story, as it's impossible to tell it all. My tales are mostly composed of failures, within which are many life-changing quotes. She eagerly took notes, asking, "May I take notes?" as she recorded these stories.

　実は、彼女がメモした内容は、私が過去に自分のメモに記したもばかり。(笑)いまだに当時の映像と共に、その言葉を言われて自分がどう変わったかまで、記憶の中のファイルと私のブログの中に整理されています。

　Actually, what she was jotting down was almost entirely things I had noted for myself in the past. (laughs) To this day, those words, along with the images from those times, and how they changed me, are neatly filed away in my memories and organized in my blog.

　このようにして名言は受け継がれていくのだと気づき、私にこれらを伝えてくれた人たちへの感謝の気持ちでいっぱいになりました。また、29歳から自分の人生を歩み始めた私が、49歳になって過去を振り返るのは、まるで走馬灯のようなフラッシュバック体験で、当時の映像が脳裏を駆け巡りました。20年の歳月がワームホールのようになり、あの時の楽しかった記憶の続きが、今ここにあるような感じがしました。

　Realizing this is how wisdom is passed down filled me with gratitude for those who had shared these insights with me. Reflecting on my journey from the age of 29 to now, at 49, felt like a series of flashbacks, a carousel of memories, with scenes from those times racing through my mind. The span of 20 years seemed like a wormhole, connecting me directly from those cherished memories to the present, as if the joy of those moments was still continuing right here, right now.

　

　4時間の上映が終わり、感想をいただきました。

「今日はたくさんアドバイスをいただきありがとうございます。流石、ひとみさんだなと感動しました。連絡しようと思った自分を褒めたいです！そして楽しかったです」

私は、今日話したことを振り返りながら、言葉を選び返事をしました。

「Yさん、こちらこそ私を選んでいただきありがとうございました。お互いに一番楽しかった職場と言える場所で出会えてよかったです。自分の過去の経験を生かすこともいつかは飽きるので、(笑)未来は常に新しいことを意識して、自分でも驚く自分を発見するジャーニーを楽しんでくださいね」。

　Soon after the 4-hour epic came to an end, I received a message from her.

　"Thank you so much for all the advice and insights today. You truly are incredible, Hitomi-san, and I'm moved. I want to praise myself for deciding to reach out to you! And it was fun."

　Reflecting on our conversation, I carefully chose my words to respond.

"Y-san, the pleasure was all mine, thank you for choosing to meet with me. It's wonderful that we met at what could be called the most enjoyable workplace for both of us. Someday, even drawing on past experiences might become tiresome, (laughs) so always aim for the new and enjoy the journey of surprising yourself with discoveries about who you can be."

　独立当初は、3年間の未来は想像できたし、計画通りに3年で会社を立ち上げました。その先の未来については、正直なところ想像もつきませんでした。でも、心配は無用です。学びと経験が積み重なるにつれて、できることの範囲が広がり、取り組むことの質が向上し、生産性もアップしていきます。そして、思いがけない自分を発見する旅へと進んでいくのです。

　When I first became independent, I could envision the next three years and, as planned, established my company within that time frame. Beyond that, to be honest, I couldn't imagine what the future held. But there's no need to worry. As you accumulate knowledge and experience, the range of what you can do expands, the quality of your work improves, and your productivity increases. And so, you embark on a journey of discovering unexpected aspects of yourself.

英国人の先生は、私がシェアする名言を「USED」と表現しましたが、私の19年来のコーチの播磨氏は、それをさらに「ヴィンテージ」と呼んで価値を上げました。つまり、「USED」は単に使用されたものですが、「ヴィンテージ」とは、そのUSEDに特別な価値が見いだされることを意味します。そして、ある人にとってはただの古いものかもしれないけれど、別の誰かにとっては価値ある宝物となり得るのです。さらに価値を高めるとはさすが播磨コーチの視点ですね。
