今回の英文は、NYで開かれたクアッド外相会合の話題から、取り上げています。

The Foreign Ministers of Australia, India and Japan and the Secretary of State of the United States of America issued the joint statement that they “oppose unilateral attempts to change the status quo.”

英文は、だれが→どうする→何をといった順番で並んでいます。
意味のかたまりで区切って、日本語を当ててから、解説にとんでみてください。

それでは、説明していきたいと思います。

豪印日米外相は発表した / 共同声明を / 彼らは”反対する(という) / 一方的な試みに / 現状を変える

豪印日米外相とまとめて書きましたが、アメリカは外務大臣のポジションに当たる人が国務長官 (the Secretary of State of the United States of America) なので、原文に忠実な日本語を当てると、豪印日外相と米国務長官となります。

日本語の「～という」に相当するのが接続詞that で、共同声明のさらに詳しい情報をつけ加えています。
