こんにちは、長期インターン生の佐々木です。大学ではデザインの勉強をしています。プラスカラーでは主に、デザイン制作やそのディレクションを担当してきました。今回はデザインを作り始める前のリサーチを通して、思ったことを書いていきます。

はじめの一歩は「見る」こと
The first step is to look

プラスカラーではこのインターン日報のように、noteでの発信を行なっています。私はその中でも、文章にくっついているバナーや挿入イラストの作成を担当します。人気のあるnoteはどういった構成をしているのか、まずは調べることからはじめました。

Just like this internship report, Plus Color is sending out notes. I am in charge of creating the banners and illustrations that are attached to the text.
The first thing I did was to find out how popular notes are structured.

スカスカの方が目立つ！？
The scuttlebutt is more noticeable!?

人気のnote記事を見ていて思ったことは、「意外と情報が詰め込まれていない」ということです。もちろん情報をたくさん入れ込んでいる記事もあるのですが、その場合はセクションが細かくわかれていたり、イメージ図や写真・イラストなどがはさまっていたりと、文章以外の余白が多く活用されていました。

・間を取る
・情報を詰めすぎない
・1番伝えたい情報を選んで、それが1番目立つようにする

これは記事だけでなく、デザインや口頭で話をするときにも言えることかなと思います。黒の中に黒を置くよりも、白の中に黒を置いたほうが目立つということです。

When I looked at some popular note-telling articles, I realized that they were surprisingly not packed with information.Of course, there are articles with a lot of information in them, but in those cases, the article is divided in sections, and images, photos, illustrations, etc. are interspersed in the article, making the most of the margins other than the text.

・I used a lot of white space.
・Don't pack too much information.
・Choose the information you want to convey first and make it stand out.

I think this is true not only for articles, but also for design and verbal talk.
It means that putting black in white stands out more than putting black in black.

自分の持っている情報を洗い出してみる

以前他のインターン生がバナーやチラシの作成をしていた時に、アドバイスをしたことがありました。普段自分が手を動かしているときはそこまで意識していなかったことを、改めて人に説明することで、自分のノウハウとして定着していくように感じたことをよく覚えています。
次回もまた制作業務が続くのですが、今回とはまた違った、自分の持っている情報を書いていきたいと思います。

I used to give advice to other interns when they were working on banners and flyers.I remember well how explaining things to others again that I wasn't usually that aware of when I was working with my hands seemed to take hold as my own expertise.
Next time I'll continue my production work again, but I'd like to write about the information I have differently than I did this time.
