By sending your avatar to the "DDD Hotel" in Nihonbashi, Tokyo, and participating in the creation of works by the artist "Takuto Ohta", you will have a "virtual stay experience". The making scene will be uploaded on SNS ,and you will also be able to get a photo book of his works.
Introduction
Hello, my name is Fukao from STAY-ART , a company that organizes and manages art events in hotels. I’d like to provide you a new kind of [stay]in hotel even if we can't travel as much as we'd like in these times. And for those who want to participate in a new art experience using SNS I would like to take you to a slightly different, but never-before-experienced project!
This project has been sponsored by the architectural photographer Nobuki Taoka, who has also helped with the photography and the promotion of this project.
Following the first project, Setouchi Retreat Aonagi (Ehime Prefecture), the second project, Hotel Claska (Meguro, Tokyo), and the third project, MOGANA (Kyoto), this time the stage will be set at DDDHOTEL, a renovated hotel by up-and-coming designer Koichi Futamata (CASE REAL). The monotone, stylish yet warm space has become famous thanks to its introduction by influencers on SNS recently.

What we hope to achieve with this project
We would like to discover new possibilities of staying and art by providing a virtual staying experience through the artist's creative activities and participants’ alter ego "Avatar". At the same time, through this project, we would like to revitalize the demand for hotels and expand the opportunities for artists.
You can find more information about our activities on Instagram.

Virtual staying experience
In this project, an avatar (alter ego) will be "invited" into the guest room in place of the participant (guest). The avatars will be then created their own records of their stay and photographed .This time, the art piece of the artist Takuto Ohta will be created based on the avatars sent by the participants. Below is an image of the first phase of the project held at a resort hotel Setouchi Retreat Aonagi.
The check-in scene of the participants' avatars.
The commemorative photo in the guest room.
The artist places [avatars] in the room and captures their [stay] in the photograph.
After the Avatar returns home, artworks based on the photos will be sent to the participants.
Participant's impressions of the experience (the project at MOGANA, Kyoto)
▶︎I wondered what Avatar is doing then. I felt unsettled somehow, and when I tried to do at home what I usually do at hotels, I felt relaxed. It was a strange feeling. In a good way, "Just looking at it is not enough!” I was able to have an experience that made me want to actually go to the place.
▶︎I guess I felt like a parent of a child going on a school trip. When I look at my returned avatar and the record of my experience, my love for it deepened. However, I was a little jealous of the fact that I am only a "surrogate" in the beautiful record. STAYART is a back and forth between dream and reality. It is a wonderful experience that arouses a new craving for art.
The first thing that resonated with me about this project was the word of “stayart “ itself. Hotels are my everyday life, but at the same time they are extraordinary. In order to incorporate the extraordinary into the everyday, I needed to encounter a new hotel. Even if you do not travel physically, you can feel the hotel through your avatar. This project gives us such a sense of value. This is a must-see project for hotel lovers. / KAZ@Discussing digital x music x hotel
Why did I decide to do this project?
One of the reasons I decided to do this project was that I wanted to break through the situation that it is difficult to go to a hotel far away from home as easily as before, and at the same time, the ongoing spread of remote work and the social background of new demand in the SNS and content industries combined to bring me to this idea.
I have experienced hotels all over Japan and the world, and have been working as an architectural designer to spread the appeal of hotels. However, I felt that there was a tendency to just build buildings and neglect the actual usage of them, so I decided to shift the focus of my activities to the search for content and fun ways to use them.
This is a work from my days as an architecture student. It is also the basis for the concept of stayart.

Artist Profile
Takuto Ohta
Takuto Ota is an artist who re-exposes the senses that we lose sight of as a reaction to the effects of the development of culture and civilization, and expresses them through words and forms. Currently, he is looking at the relationship between things with the keywords of "decomposition" and "production," which are connected to the root of life activities and manufacturing. He believes that there is no need to be particular or categorize any area or method of expression, and tries to create works that are fluid and pluralistic in thought.
