ナツメヤシ,友情のための賛歌 Date-fruit, Ode to Friendship

To my good old Moor friend,
古き良きムーア人の友人へ
so far away from the prophet's land
預言者の地から遠く離れた
in Edinburgh;
エディンバラでの;
Borne was thee, from oastic Emirates,
オアシスのエミレーツの国から、運ばれて
Noble wind redolent of Frankincense.
乳香の香りがする高貴な風よ
As we tread the just path of gaining friends,
友となる正しい道を辿りながら
We foster and raise all friendship that are just
全ての正しく在る友情を育む
This, the compassion of the universe----
これは一つなる宇宙の慈愛
One single Truth,
一つなる真実
One single verse.
一つなる詩句
That we with which converse,
私たちが語り合う
To save me from turning bloated floating flotsam

私を肥大化した浮遊物に変わる事から救うために

through indulging in too much meat, and too much grain;
肉と穀物の摂りすぎと

drowning in my sorrows of fermented milk.
発酵した乳の哀しみに溺れる事から
Ye tender honeyed-grapes of yellow desert sand…
柔らかく黄色い砂漠の砂のみつ葡萄（ぶどう）よ
The cherisher, merciful date-water.
慈悲に満ちたナツメヤシの水。
Glorious, gracefully tranquil; fountain of all good words.
輝く、幽雅な；すべての良き言葉の泉。
