What was the intention of the suspects? - Jan. 28, 2024.

What was the intention of the suspects? Why did they steal a statue of Jackie Robinson by cutting it at the ankles? If they wanted the sculpture, they should have taken it along with the pedestal.

According to an article, authorities are seeking public assistance in finding the suspects who stole a statue of baseball legend Jackie Robinson from a public park in Wichita, Kansas. Surveillance footage shows the suspects entering the Jackie Robinson Pavilion in McAdams Park around midnight on Thursday and removing the statue, placing it in a pickup truck. The suspects cut off the statue at the ankles, leaving behind only Robinson's feet. The city estimates the damage to be around $75,000.

This incident is not only horrifying for the residents but also mysterious, as it seems odd to leave only the feet. I hope the perpetrators are found soon.
By the way, are you familiar with the legendary baseball player Jackie Robinson? I had not heard his name until I read this article. As it states, Robinson is renowned for being the first baseball player to break the color barrier in the modern era of Major League Baseball. He played for the Kansas City Monarchs in the Negro leagues and the minor league Montreal Royals before joining the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947.

Recently, many Japanese players have joined MLB, and I'm excited to watch games from teams like the Chicago Cubs, the Boston Red Sox, and the Los Angeles Dodgers. However, I'm not familiar with older MLB players, so I want to take an interest in the history of players like Robinson. It would undoubtedly enhance my enjoyment of the game.
