1. Politics of Policymaking (Prof. Christpher Sabatini)

Explanation: ★★☆☆☆
Satisfaction: ★★★☆☆

「何が問題なのか」「どのように関係者と利害調整するか」「政策実行から評価に至るまでのプロセス」など、政策立案に当たって必要となるフレームワークを学んだ。
特にregime type（民主主義、権威主義等）が政策に決定的な役割を果たすという点が学期通じて強調されていた。

文献の中でも独自に作られたケーススタディは面白いものもいくつかあったが、ロジがあまり整っておらず、その点で満足度が下がったのが残念。

Learned frameworks necessary for policymaking such as problem definition, stakeholder analysis, implementation and evaluation.
Especially, the importance of regime type was emphasized throughout the semester.
Some case studies prepared by the teaching team were very impressive, but it is a pity that poor logistics reduced my satisfaction.

2. Quantitative Analysis 1 (Prof. Doru Cojoc)

Satisfaction: ★★★★☆

リサーチデザインや検定、回帰分析など、量的分析に必要となるスキルを一通り学んだ。
レクチャーとラボ（復習やＳＴＡＴＡというソフトの学習）がそれぞれ週１回ずつでお互いを補完し合っており、授業の構成はよく練られていたが、終盤かなり駆け足になり理解に苦労することもあった。

アメリカの大学院では量的分析がとにかく強調されており、今学期はQuant2を取ってさらに理解を深める予定。

Studies soft skills of quantitative analysis from research design, statistical tests to regression analysis.
This course was well organized in that weekly lecture and lab complemented each other. However, the prof paced up during the last half of semester and I sometimes had difficulty in catching up with.
Public Policy Schools in the U.S. everywhere emphasize quantitative analysis, so I'll take quant 2 in this semester to deepen my understanding.

3. Microeconomics (Prof. Paola Valenti)

Contents: ★★★☆☆
Relevance: ★★☆☆☆
Explanation: ★★★★★
Satisfaction: ★★★★☆

生産者理論や消費者理論、不確実性、情報の非対称性などミクロ経済の基礎を学習。
内容的には大学の一般教養で学ぶレベルと大差はなく、また机上の空論と思わせることが多かったが、教授の説明の分かりやすさが素晴らしかった。
また毎週の課題で理解が自然と深まるようになっており、授業の構成もよく練られていた。

自分は経済情勢に疎いので、今学期のマクロ経済とあわせて、日常の経済動向を理論的に見れるようになりたい。

Studied the basics of Microeconomics such as Producer Theory, Consumer Theory, Uncertainty and Asymmetric Information.
Not that different from what I studied in college and there were some unrealistic assumptions, but prof's explanation was perfect.
This course was also well organized because weekly assignement made it easier to understand the concept of each topic.

I'm poor at economics, so I wanna be able to look at daily economic issues through this course and Macro course (this semester).

4. Accounting (Prof. Alan Brott)

Contents: ★★★☆☆
Relevance: ★★☆☆☆
Explanation: ★★★★★
Satisfaction: ★★★★☆

財務諸表の分析や各費目の具体的な算出方法などを、練習問題を通じて学習。
教授のユーモアと知性あふれる授業スタイルはとても印象的。またレクチャーノートが非常に分かりやすくまとまっており、これと課題を解けばいつの間にか内容を理解できるように構成されていた。

職業柄的にはそこまで今後役に立つところはなさそうだが、濃い内容を１学期で学べたという意味で満足度は高い。

Learned the components and analysis of financial statements through cases.
Prof's lecture style filled with humor and intellect was impressive. Moreover, lecture notes are easy to understand after we listened to the lecture and solved cases.
This course is not that relevant to my work, but I'm satisfied because I learned a lot of things about accounting in one semester.

5. Overview

この初学期は必修科目を取るので精一杯（これで１３単位）で、教育関係の授業を取る余裕はありませんでした・・・。
また別の機会に述べたいと思いますが、ＳＩＰＡのカリキュラムの課題点として必修科目や選択必修が多すぎ、柔軟性があまりないことがあります。

そうは言ってもまだ４分の１が終了したばかり。今学期では教育関係の授業を２つ取ったりと本格的に学びを深めたいと思います！

Last semester I was busy fulfilling core course requirement, so I could take education courses.
SIPA's curriculum contains many core courses so not flexible, which I think is one of the problems.
But this is only a quarter of my degree program. I'll take two education course this semester to further my skills.
