June 27,2027: My French（ボクのフランス語）

The 2024 Summer Olympics will be open soon in Paris, France. I have no plans to go to Paris to see the games. But I have a lot of good memories of France and Paris when I was in Europe. As a salesman for overseas markets, I had a client in Paris that distributed the electronic products of my company in France. It was my biggest client in Europe by sales so I used to visit the client at least once each month for about six years. And I also used to visit a lot of retailers having our products in Paris to see how sales were going on.
I also used to enjoy France on holiday. I used to go skiing in the French Alps with my family every winter. In particular, I loved the Trois Valley ski resort, which gave me experiences I had never had in Japan.
So, I learned French hard by myself. As soon as I began to live in the Netherlands, I bought a book and cassette tapes to learn French. I also tried to use French as much as possible when I was in France. As a result, I managed to communicate with taxi drivers. And I still remember some French words and phrases well.

I still can tell numbers from one to one hundred in French:
un, deux, trois, quatre, cinq, six, sept, huit, neuf, dix, onze, duouze, treise, quatrose, dix-cinq, dix-six, dix-sept, dis-huit, dix-nuef and vingt, trente, quarante, cinqente, soixante, soixante-dix, quatre-vingt, quatre-vingt-dix, cent.

I also remember the words and phrases I used to the taxi drivers when I moved to my French customer by taxi:
- Est-que vous allez à la Place de Belgique dans la Défense?;
- Est-que vous tournez à gauche après le feu et arrêtez la?

These are very basic French words and phrases. But I am very happy that they are still in my memory and are ready to go out when needed. But unfortunately, I have no chance of using them for now. Unless I do something about it, my French will remain sitting on a gold mine. My French is too valuable to waste it.

　2024年夏季オリンピックがフランスのパリでまもなく開幕します。ボクはパリに観戦に行く予定はありません。ヨーロッパにいた頃のフランスやパリにはいい思い出がたくさんあります。海外向けの営業マンとして、自社のエレクトロニクス製品をフランスで販売していたお客さんがパリにありました。ヨーロッパで最大の売上高を誇る取引先だったので、6年間ほど毎月1回、必ずその取引先を訪問していました。また、パリの当社製品を扱っている小売店にもよく足を運び、売れ行きを見ていました。
　休日も、フランスを楽しみました。毎年、冬になると、家族でフレンチアルプへにスキーに行ったものです。特にトロワバレーのスキー場が大好きで、日本では味わえない経験をさせてもらえました。
　そのため、フランス語は独学で一生懸命勉強したものです。オランダに住み始めてすぐ、フランス語を学ぶための本とカセットテープを買いました。また、フランスにいるときはできるだけフランス語を使うようにしました。その結果、タクシーの運転手とフランス語で何とかコミュニケーションが取れるようになり、いまでも、いくつかのフランス語の単語やフレーズを覚えています。

今でもフランス語で1から100までの数字を言うことができます。
１、２，３，４，５，６，７，８，９，１０，１１，１２，１３，14、１５、１６，１７，１８，１９，２０，３０，４０，５０，６０，７０，８０，９０，１００。

また、タクシーでフランスのお客さんのところへ移動したときに、タクシー運転手に使った単語やフレーズも覚えています。
- ラ・デファンスのプラス・ドュ・ベルジックまでお願いします。
- 信号機を過ぎたら左折して、止めてください。

これらはとても基本的なフランス語の単語とフレーズです。しかし、これらがまだ記憶に残っていて、必要なときにすぐに使えるようになっているのはとてもうれしいことです。でも残念ながら、今のところ使う機会はありません。何もしなければ、ボクのフランス語は宝の持ち腐れになってしまいます。もったいないです！
