July 24, 2023 My Books, My Wife (2) （ボクの本と妻（２））

As I said earlier, I really hate it when my books on the bookshelves are rearranged without my consent. And I did not expect it to be done by someone else. But my wife did it the other day. She seemed to have done it while I was walking. When I returned home and tried to find a book I wanted to read, I felt something strange since the book was not where it was supposed to be. And I found it in a different place than I expected. At that moment, I thought that she had done what I hated the most. So, I immediately checked how the books had been rearranged. I could put up with it if it was a minor change. But all the books on all the shelves had been rearranged. So most of the books on the shelves in my bedroom were moved to the ones in the other room. I also found an empty shelf that used to be full of books. I was so furious about this that I was about to shout at her. But instead, I took a deep breath and calmed down. Then, I was beyond angry and astonished at what she had done. Now, I have no power to return the books to where they used to be, and I am only using parts of them that are necessary at a minimum.
I am now thinking about what to do to stop her from doing this again. One way is to reduce the number of books. I will sell most of them and try to keep the ones that I really need to keep in my hands. Another way is to use e-books. In any case, I have to solve the big problem very soon.

　前日に書いたように、知らないうちに本棚の本が入れ替えられるのが嫌です。また、そんなことをされるとは想像もしていませんでした。でも、先日、妻がやったのです。ボクがウオーキングにいっている間にやったようです。帰ってきて、欲しい本を探そうとしたところ、自分が想定した場所になかったため疑問に感じました。本は、自分が思っていたところは違うところにありました。この時、「やりあがったな」と思いました。慌てて、入れ替えの状況を確認しました。小幅な入れ替えならまだしも、すべての本棚の本が入れ替えられていました。ベッドルームにあった本が、仕事部屋の棚に移されていたり、本がはったはずに棚が空っぽになっていました。怒り心頭で、妻を怒鳴りつけたなりましたが、深呼吸をして落ち着きました。そしたら、怒りを通り越して、あきれ返ってしまいました。今は、今は、並べ替えられた本をもとに戻す気力はなく、最低限必要本だけを取り出してつかっています。
　そして、二度とこんなことをされないよう対策を練っています。そのため、本の数を減らします。本当に必要な本だけを手元に置くようにします。また、電子書籍の利用も考えます。
