January 19, 2024: My First Dream in 2024 （今年の最初の夢）

The other day, I, by chance, saw a bald eagle on a TV programme. It fascinated me very much. I was lost in its dignified look with its sharp eyes. I was also fascinated to see it flying gracefully across the sky with its large feathers. The moment I saw it flying across the sky, I dreamed of becoming that bird and flying all over the world. If I were able to start over, I really would like to become the bald eagle. I do not know much about the bird. But it must have enough energy to fly all over the world, whatever the circumstances are. If I were able to become that eagle, I would be able to fly anywhere at any time. In particular, I would like to fly to Europe. I had a lot of memories there and would like to revisit all the places I had visited. At first, I would head for the Netherlands which was the first country I had lived in Europe. Then, I would head for Scandinavian countries: Norway, Sweden and Finland. Then, I would go south and go to Greece. After that, I would go west and visit 6 countries: Austria, Switzerland, Italy, France, Spain and Portugal. It would take me a very long time to complete it. In some cases, I might run out of strength in the middle and not be able to finish it. Or I might meet enemies and have to give up the journey. No matter what happens, I do not mind at all and I really hope that it will come to fruition.
This was the first dream I had in 2024. I know it will never happen. But the dream will keep me motivated.

　先日、あるテレビ番組でハクトウワシを見ました。その姿にすごく魅了されました。鋭い眼光を放ち、凛とした表情に見とれてしまいました。大きな羽で優雅に空を飛ぶ姿にも魅了されました。空を飛ぶ姿を見た瞬間、あの鳥になって世界中を飛び回りたいと思いました。もし人生をやり直せるなら、本当にハクトウワシになりたいと思いました。この鳥のことはよく知りません。でも、どんな状況であれ、世界中を飛び回れるだけのエネルギーを持っているはずです。もしこの鷲になることができたら、すきなときにすきなところへ飛んでいけます。中でも、欧州に飛んでいきたいです。欧州には沢山の思い出があるので、以前訪れたところをすべて訪れたいです。まずは、ヨーロッパで最初に住んだ・オランダを目指します。そして、北欧の ノルウェー、スウェーデン、フィンランドを目指します。それから南下してギリシャに飛び、その後は、西に向い、オーストリア、スイス、イタリア、フランス、スペイン、ポルトガルを訪れます。旅を終えるにはとても長い時間がかかることでしょう。場合によっては、途中で力尽き、完走できないかもしれません。あるいは敵に出会って旅を断念しなければならないかもしれません。でも、どんなことがあろうと、まったく気にしません。それがかなうことを心から願っています。
　これが2024年に抱いた最初の夢です。実現しないことはわかっています。でも、この夢のおかげで、モチベーションを保てます。
