APUの先生Recommends! 本紹介 ～田原先生～ | APU Beppaper
今回インタビューさせていただいた先生は、小田マサノリ先生です！
APUの中では非常勤講師として勤務されている先生で、
「多文化社会論」・「メディアと歴史」を担当されています！
基本、セッション授業の担当をされているので初めて聞いた方も多いかな？
人類学者・メディア・芸術家・ミュージシャンなど様々なアイデンティティを持つ先生。
今回は「人類学者」としてお話ししていただきました〜
*セッション授業：APUで夏休み・冬休み初めの一週間で開講される授業のこと
The teacher we had the pleasure of interviewing this time is Mr. Masanori Oda!
He is a part-time lecturer at APU and is in charge of "Multicultural Society" and "Media and History"!
He teaches "Multicultural Society" and "Media and History"!
He is basically in charge of the session classes, so I wonder if many of you have heard of him for the first time.
He has various identities as an anthropologist, media, artist, and musician.
This time, he spoke to us as an "anthropologist" -!
*Session class: A class offered during the first week of summer and winter break at APU.
な、な、なんと３時間にも及ぶインタビューで、深いところまで聞くことができて何枚でも記事が書けそうだけども、まずは１作品目ね！！笑
It was a 3-hour interview and I could write as many articles as I want on the depth of the interview, but let's start with the first piece!

この「曠野から」を紹介していただく前に、実は一つの本を教えていただきました。
Before we were introduced to this, we were actually told about one book.
Leave the book behind and go to town - Shuji Terayama
寺山修司さんは、詩人でもあり劇作家・演劇家でもあり本も出版されている方です。
「天井桟敷」と呼ばれる劇団を率いてきた方でもあります。
この、「書を捨てよ、町へ出よう」と呼ばれる本が人類学の学び方にピッタリあっているそうです。
自分の生まれ育った国を捨てるわけではないけど、そこを離れて自分の知りたいリアルであったり、何かがあるところ(フィールド)に行こう。
「本の中に真実はない。真実を知りたければフィールドに行く」
人類学者の学びスタンスは「現場から知る」ということ。本を捨て実際の町に出向くことで真実がわかるという本です。
これからお話しする内容も、人類学をもとにしてお話しされています。
基本は「本」だけでなく、「現地で生活を通した学び」が人類学の基本。
この言葉を頭に入れながら、続きをご覧ください！！
Shuji Terayama is a poet, playwright, and theater artist who has also published a book.
He is also the leader of a theater company called "Ceiling Plank.
This book, called "Leave the Book, Go to Town," fits perfectly with the anthropology study method, he says.
It does not mean abandoning the country where you were born and raised, but leaving there and going to a place (field) where there is something real or something that you want to know.
There is no truth in books. If you want to know the truth, go to the field.
The anthropologist's stance on learning is to "learn from the field. The book says that you can find out the truth by abandoning books and going to the actual town.
What I am about to tell you is also based on anthropology.
The basis of anthropology is not only "books" but also "learning through living in the field.
Keep these words in mind as we continue!!!
「学問の本ではなく、町にこそリアルがある。そして、演劇も芝居小屋という閉ざされた空間の中で古いお芝居を繰り返し演劇するのではなく、町に出て、町を劇場とし、そこで起きることも演劇なんだ」(小田マサノリ先生)
“It is in the town, not in an academic book, that the real thing is to be found. And theater is not about repeating old plays in the confines of a playhouse, but about going out into the town, using the town as a theater, and what happens there is also theater.”(Masanori Oda)
川田順造さん- 主に、西アフリカ(コートジボワール)の研究をされている人類学者。
Junzo Kawada - Anthropologist working mainly in West Africa (Cote d'Ivoire).
先生と本書が出会ったのは、アフリカの首都ナイロビで行われた日本学術振興会。
本棚にあった数ある本の中から、たまたま手に取った本が先生の人生を変えました。
当時、東アフリカの研究のため訪問していた川田先生に偶然お会いできたそうです！
この本は、時間観念・美意識・約束の観念など全てにおいて異文化であるフィールドワークのことが事細かに記されている本です。
先生は当時、異文化である環境におかれる心境を赤裸々に描いたこの本に救われたそうです。
辛いことの連続であるフィールドワーク中にこの本を何度も読み重ね、学びが深まった。この状況に身を置いているのは自分だけではないのか。と心の拠り所になった一冊だそうです。
1990年代当時、アフリカから帰国した先生は第一にこの本を買おうと考えたそうです。
今では、Amazonやメルカリ等でいつでもどこでも購入が可能ですが、インターネットもない時代に先生はどのように本を手に入れたのでしょうか。
「ひたすら古本屋さんを歩く。お茶の水・神田の古本屋に何度も足を運び、相当の時間をかけて手に入れました。一見、コストパフォーマンスの非常に悪い本の探し方なんだけど、ある意味、本の(迷子)になりながらの出会いも考えれば、本に導かれたなと感じています。」
コスパの悪い「迷子になる」ことで、思いもよらぬ偶然の出会いがあるかもしれない。
先生の中で、活字で書かれた内容だけでなく経験や情景が滲み出てくる背景を思い出させてくれる本であるということが伝わってきました。
時が経った今でも、この本を手にすると当時の匂い・情景等が蘇ってくるそうです。
The doctor and this book met at the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science in Nairobi, the capital of Africa.
Among the many books on the bookshelf, the book he happened to pick up changed his life.
He happened to meet Dr. Kawada, who was visiting at the time to conduct research in East Africa!
The book is a detailed account of fieldwork in a different culture in all aspects, including the concept of time, aesthetics, and promises.
He was saved by this book, which describes the feelings of being in an environment of a different culture in a very frank manner.
He read this book over and over again during his fieldwork, which was a series of painful experiences, and his learning deepened. I wondered if I was not the only one in this situation. It is a book that has become a source of strength for him.
Back in the 1990s, upon returning from Africa, the first thing Sensei did was to buy this book.
Nowadays, books can be purchased anytime, anywhere through Amazon, Mercari, etc. How did he obtain the book in an age without the Internet?
He walked around used bookstores. I visited used bookstores in Ochanomizu and Kanda many times and spent a considerable amount of time acquiring books. At first glance, this is a very cost-effective way of looking for books, but in a way, considering the encounters I had while getting (lost) in books, I feel I was guided by books."
By "getting lost" in a cost-effective way, you may have unexpected chance encounters.
I could sense in the teacher that the book reminds us of the background that exudes not only the content in print but also the experiences and scenes.
Even now, when he holds this book in his hands, he can recall the smells and scenes of those days.
自分達が今まで経験し得なかった、「自分の手で大切なものを発見しにいく経験」
現代の技術は否定しないが、やはり「自分の力を最大限に活用して見つけたものに価値があるのだ」と教えてくださいました。
本当にいい話を聞いたなぁ。
The experience of going to discover something important with our own hands" that we could never have experienced before.
He told us that although he does not deny modern technology, "what is valuable is what you find by making the best use of your own power.
I heard a really good story.

小川さやかさん-立命館大学大学院先端総合学術研究科教授。タンザニア地域を人類学の視点 を入れて研究を行なっている方。
小田先生と小川さんは、お知り合い。とにかく面白い方らしい！！
先生からみて、「この人に面白い話で敵う人はいない」と思わせるほどに面白い方。どんな人なんだ！？笑
長期的にみて「小川さんの書かれる書籍は面白いに違いない」と確信した小田先生。
めちゃくちゃ面白い小田先生から太鼓判を押された小川先生の本は、の本は絶対に面白いはず！ぜひ一度手にしてみてね！
Sayaka Ogawa - Professor, Graduate School of Core Ethics and Frontier Sciences, Ritsumeikan University. She is conducting research on the Tanzania region from an anthropological perspective.
Dr. Oda and Ms. Ogawa are acquaintances, and she seems to be a very interesting person!
In his opinion, she is so interesting that he thinks, "No one can compete with her for interesting stories.
Dr. Oda is convinced that "books written by Mr. Ogawa must be interesting" in the long run.
With a drumbeat from the insanely interesting Dr. Oda, Mr. Ogawa's books must be absolutely fascinating! Please pick up a copy!

働くことの人類学【活字版】 仕事と自由をめぐる8つの対話 | 松村 圭一郎, コクヨ野外学習センター |本
もともとは、文具メーカーであるコクヨが人類学をテーマにPodcastを用いて話していただくシリーズであったが、好評により書籍化した作品。
30代40代(学問の中では若手)の方々がお話しされている本であり、研究者同士の対談が含まれています！
「先生の分野(人類学)に興味のある学生に紹介する本」に共通するキーワードは「仕事・働き方」
国によって働くことへの概念が全く違うということが、理解できる内容になっています！
「仕事への向かい方や人生の生き方」。これが二冊で共通している話題です。
「この二冊を紹介する理由は、今の大学生が就活で苦しんでいるからです。」
「でも就活を地獄にしているのは、もしかしたら日本だけ(私達だけ)かもしれない」
そんな大学生の方々に読んでいただきたい本として紹介していただきました。
「その日暮らし」とは…。
将来安定を求める日本の中では、聞き覚えのないような表現かもしれません。
先生や著者の方々のフィールドワークを行なった地域(アフリカ)では共通認識のようです。
無駄に将来のことを考えて鬱になる。ではなく、とりあえず今日1日を乗り切る。
こんな考え方を「その日暮らし」と呼びます。
小田先生の目線から日本を見ると…。
成功は他人のおかげ。失敗は自己責任。このことから自己肯定感が感じられない。
そんな国の文化が成り立っているそうです。
一方でアフリカ圏の国々の文化は…。
失敗した時は「運が悪かった」「たまたま悪かった」失敗した人を助けよう！という意識が強い。
嘘をついても、責め立てることなく許してくれる文化が実際にあるそうです。
この価値観の違いを日本人は受け入れていく必要がある。と主張されていました。
Originally a series of podcast talks by stationery manufacturer Kokuyo on the subject of anthropology, this work has been adapted into a book due to popular demand.
The book features people in their 30s and 40s (younger in academia) speaking, and includes a dialogue between researchers!
The keywords common to "books to introduce to students interested in your field (anthropology)" are "work and ways of working"!
The content of the book is to understand that each country has a totally different concept of work!
How to face work and how to live one's life". This is a common topic between the two books.
The reason I am introducing these two books is that today's college students are suffering from job hunting.
But maybe it is just Japan (us) who are making job hunting hell."
This book was introduced as a book that we would like such university students to read.
What is "living for the day"
In Japan, where people seek stability in the future, this may seem an unfamiliar expression.
It seems to be a common perception in the region (Africa) where the teachers and authors conducted their fieldwork.
I get depressed thinking about the future in vain. Instead, they get through the day for the time being.
This way of thinking is called "living for the day.
Looking at Japan from Dr. Oda's perspective...
Success is thanks to others. Failure is one's own responsibility. This is why we cannot feel a sense of self-affirmation.
He says that such a national culture has been established.
On the other hand, the culture of African countries is.
When they fail, they have a strong sense of "it was bad luck," "it just happened to be bad," and "let's help those who failed! This is a strong sense of "I'm sorry.
They actually have a culture that forgives you even if you lie, without blaming you.
Japanese people need to accept this difference in values. Japanese people need to accept this difference in values.
「日本の文化って異常だよね。過剰なところもあるんじゃないかな」
同じ時代に実在するアフリカの文化形態を紹介することで、自分の中の窓が開き、心の中に健やかな風が通るはずです。
「必ずしも”絶対化”される世の中を”相対化”させていくのが人類学であり、それを象徴する本である」
今、私たちが生きている世界だけでなく、新たな文化形態としての「働き方」を教えてくれるため、将来の働き方に悩む私達へおすすめする理由が詰まっているなと感じました。
日頃から、仕事に追われ課題に追われる大学生、社会人
私も期限やチームの共同など、縛られる同調圧力が物凄く強いのではないかと感じます。
アフリカの生活は羨ましい…。先進国の日本では、考えられない生活の仕方ですよね。
この本から、心に余裕を持って生活する大切さや重要性を感じ取れました！！

College students and working adults are always busy with their work and tasks.
I also feel that there is a tremendous amount of pressure to meet deadlines and collaborate with others in a team.
I envy life in Africa. It is a way of life that is unthinkable in Japan, a developed country.
From this book, I could sense the importance and significance of living with
an open mind!
