#11 The Sun also Shines [PART2. Germany] ep.III "Flagstone"

I hadn't seen any developed coutry more than Japan including all my travels.

But Germany, it is.

It looks there's no huge gap in terms of technology, however, the way of thinking and living of German people is advanced centuries further than that of Japanese. I don't take it granted for everything Germany has done was right. In Berin, you you can see many heritages from the time when it was aparted into east and west. They take over commandment from generation to generation. That's how they've learned lessons and I felt like being taught how to live a life.

Something Germany has but Japan even it's technically possible is, for example, "Pfand". It can be translated to "recycle". There is a hole on a wall of the entrance where you can find karts at supermaket. It's located as high as chest, and you can see a belt conveyor inside. Customers can insert empty bottles onto it, then the machine gives a coupon. depending on kinds of bottle. You get discount by using that coupon.

Similiar system is found at toilet in shopping malls. There's a ticket machine-like which you insert coins in. Like the machine explained above, you get a piece of paper to get discount as much as you paid for the toilet. It means using toilet costs free.

Talking to the hostfamily with beginner German, listening to acordion on street, and encountering world heritages. Flagstones, buildings from middle ages, and people which build harmonie of this town make me think:

okay, this is Europe, I wanna get out of Japan, I wanna walk just worrying to hurt ankle on flagstone.
