デジタルだからこういう表現
アナログだからこういう表現
っていう風に固定観念で作らずに
その垣根を取り払うのがこれからの私の仕事かなと思っている。

デジタル媒体とアナログ媒体は根本的に素材が真逆のもので
出てくる表現方法も偏りがちだ。ただ、どちらかに「寄せ」ようとすると
何か無理してるよねって感じに見えるしかえって偽物感というか
胡散臭さが倍増するのではと思っている。
（その胡散臭さを武器にして作るというのも面白そうだが）

私は永続性やリアリティを求めてはいるもののやっている事はあべこべで、
求めれば求めるほど薄っぺらい実態のない何かになるだけだった。

ただ最近ふと見えてきたのが、その薄っぺらさの中にある
原始的なリアリティというか、雪山におけるクレバスみたいなポイントを
見つけたような気がした。
無理に古いものと新しいものを共存させると東京タワーの横に増上寺が建っているみたいな異質な感じになるけど（それはそれで好きではある）
まだ踏み込んでいない領域が何となく見える時がある。

それは、例えばデジタルで沢山描写をしてものすごくスーパーリアルな写実的絵画を作るのとはちょっと違って（それなら逆に今の時代AIの方が私より余程うまいだろうと思う）見た目の精巧さや写実ではなく、もっと元素レベルのリアルまで落とし込むことだ。そうすると私が憧れているジョン・ケージやオラファー・エリアソン、レイチェル・ホワイトリードのような人が人であって人でない状態を派生させられるのでは、
とふと脳裏によぎったのだ。
やっていることは従来の手法と大して変わりはないが、その質を高められるポイントを
見つけた気がしたのだ。

If you force the old and the new to coexist, it will look alien, like Zojoji Temple being built next to Tokyo Tower (which I like).
There are times when I can somehow see an area that I have not yet ventured into.

It is not the same as, for example, creating super-realistic paintings with a lot of digital depiction (in that case, I think AI would be much better than I am nowadays), but rather, it is to bring it down to a more elemental level of realism, rather than elaboration and realism. I am wondering if it would be possible to create a state in which a person is a person and not a person, like John Cage, Olafur Eliasson, or Rachel Whiteread, whom I admire so much.
I suddenly had the idea in my mind.
What we were doing was not much different from conventional methods, but I thought I had found a point where we could improve the quality of our work.
