撮影した写真を使って英語をアウトプット
みなさんこんにちはソライトです。
今回は最近の英語学習について、新しく始めたアウトプットや英語に関して自分にガックリとしたことなどを共有したいと思います。
インスタグラムで英語アウトプット
最近の記事では、超望遠レンズを使って撮った野鳥の写真やその時の様子などを共有しているんですが、その撮った写真というのはインスタグラムにも投稿しています。
その時に普通に日本語だけで投稿してもいいんですが、英語学習の為にも英語で投稿をするようにしています。（一応日本語も書いています。）
これの良いなと思う点は、自分で撮った写真なので、その時の様子や考えていたこと、撮った写真を見て思うことなど全部自分ごととして考えて英語でアウトプットできる点かなと思います。
ぼく自身もよく陥りがちなことなんですが、例文を作る時に文法的にはあってても、こんな例文は普段使わないだろうなぁという文を作ってしまうことがあります。
例えば、写真に関することでは無いですが、
We were being quiet, but not a sound was to be heard.
（私たちは静かにしていたが、音一つ聞こえなかった。）
普段上記のような例文を使うことなんてそうそう無いと思います。
使いそうに無い例文を作るよりかは、普段から使いそうな例文を作った方が良いことは明確なので、自分で撮った写真を英語で投稿することにはとても意味があると思います。
逆に使いそうなのは以下のような例文かなと思います。
You should go camping because it will heal you.
（キャンプに行くべきだよ、癒されるから。）
I haven’t been able to study English lately, so I want to do it.
（最近英語の勉強ができてないから、したいなぁ。）
超望遠レンズを買ってから外に出て撮影をする時間が増えていて、英語学習に割く時間というのが少し少なくなってきているので、今回のように撮影した写真やその時の様子を英語で共有することによって英語に触れる機会を作っていくのは大切だなと感じました。

2年間英語学習をしていて簡単な表現が出ない自分にガックリ
いきなりなんですが、以下の例文は英語でどう表現しますか？
「英語勉強をしたいけど仕事をしないといけないので勉強ができない。」
これを英語で表現すると以下の表現になると思います。
「I want to study English but I have to work so I can't do it.」
で、ぼくはこの例文の中の「can't（できない）」の部分がどう表現したらいいのかが分かりませんでした。
そんな感じで、簡単な表現ですら出てこない自分にがっくりすることがあります。
でもこの2年間でそういうことは何回も経験しているので、これが原因で英語学習を諦めるとかということは無いんですが、流石に物覚えの悪い自分にガックリしてしまいます。（笑）
けど、英語学習に関わらず勉強なは分からないことがあったらすぐ調べ直す、学びなおす、そしてアウトプットするということが大切だと思うので、英語学習中のみなさんの中にもなかなか英語で例文が作れなかったり、話せなかったりということがあると思うまあすが、めげずに一緒に頑張っていけたら良いなと思います。
Hi everyone, it's Soraito here. In this post, I'd like to share some updates on my recent English learning journey, including new output methods I've started and moments that have particularly disappointed me regarding my English skills.
English Output on Instagram
In recent articles, I've been sharing photos of wild birds taken with my super-telephoto lens and the experiences surrounding those moments. I also post these photos on Instagram.
While I could just post in Japanese, I make it a point to post in English for the sake of learning. (I do write in Japanese as well.)
What I find beneficial about this is that since they're my photos, I can think about the scene, my thoughts at the time, and what I feel looking at the photos, and output all of it in English as my personal experience.
I often fall into the trap of creating grammatically correct sentences that I wouldn't usually use. For example, though not about photography, "We were being quiet, but not a sound was to be heard." I doubt I'd use such a sentence in everyday conversation. It's clearer that creating sentences that seem more likely to be used daily is better than making unlikely ones. Therefore, posting my photos in English feels very meaningful.
Conversely, more practical sentences might be, "You should go camping because it will heal you," or "I haven’t been able to study English lately, so I want to do it."
Since buying the super-telephoto lens, I've been spending more time outside taking photos, which has slightly reduced the time I can dedicate to learning English. So, sharing photos and experiences in English like this, creating opportunities to engage with the language, feels important.

Disappointment in My English Learning
Suddenly, how would you express the following in English?
"I want to study English, but I have to work, so I can't study."
This can be expressed as "I want to study English but I have to work so I can't do it."
And, I didn't know how to express the "can't" part in this sentence.
It's disheartening when even simple expressions don't come to mind.
But, having experienced this numerous times over the past two years, I'm not about to give up on learning English because of it, though it certainly does make me feel disappointed with my slow learning pace (laugh).
However, regardless of the subject, it's crucial to quickly look up and relearn things you don't understand and then output them. So, for everyone studying English, if you're struggling to create sentences or speak, let's keep pushing forward together without getting discouraged.
最後に記事の内容とはあんまり関係のない写真ですが、野鳥撮影をしている時に巨木に生えたコケの写真を収めることができました。

巨木なので高さもあって今まで持っていたレンズではこの距離では写真に収めることができなかったんですが、超望遠レンズだからこそ、ここまで寄れて撮れました。
今度はこういうコケの上にいるアカショウビンとか撮れたら良いなぁなんて思ってます。
Finally, here's a photo somewhat unrelated to the article's main content, but I was able to capture an image of moss growing on a giant tree while photographing wild birds.
The tree was so tall that I couldn't capture it with the lenses I had before, but thanks to the super-telephoto lens, I was able to get close enough to take this shot.
Next time, I hope to capture something like a Ruddy Kingfisher perched on moss like this.
