今回は「（自分を）控えめに見せる」を英語で言ったらどうなるかについて取り上げます。

Underplay：控えめに演じる・演技する　/　to make something such as a dangerous situation seem less important or dangerous than it really is:

今回の使い方：　給湯室の先輩女子社員と本人の意思とは真逆に映る後輩女子社員

先輩女子社員：　今日のあなたのファッションセンスってなんなの？

後輩女子社員：　Well, Senpai.　I would like to underplay myself...because I have a date tonight.
(そうですね、先輩。　私は控えめに見せたかったんです。今晩デートなので）

先輩女子社員：　Really?　I see you just a woman who is gaudily dressed.
                         （ほんと？　私はただのケバケバしく着飾った女にしかみえないけれど）

なお、このあと大バトルになったことはほぼ間違いないと思われます。
