Mojari also termed as Juttis is the traditional leather footwear of Rajasthan, India. Comfortable and beautiful to look at, these are lovingly handcrafted and hand embroidered by the local Rajasthani artists. Traditionally worn by the members of the royal family and the affluent class these were handcrafted using curated leather and hand embroidered with real gold, silver threads and decorated with precious stones. Mojari making process is fairly simple but needs adept hands to skilfully cut, sew and decorate the shoe. A mould is placed on the curated leather and cut into a particular shape and size. Different parts are stitched together to put together shoe. Beautiful pieces of embroidery are then pasted and stitched onto the shoe. Finishing touches are then given and the final product is ready.
Authentic Rajasthani mojaris are found in various cities in Rajasthan. Jaipur, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Jalor and Bikaner are some of the cities where one will find them easily in the local markets.
