人間と機械の融合！？

皆さんは、未来をどのように考えていますか？

いろんなサービスが生まれ、より豊かな社会が生まれると考えているでしょう。

例えば2000年代初期、AppleからiPhoneが発表され、最初は「こんな高い携帯誰が使うのか？」と言っていたでしょう。

しかし、今はスマートフォンがなければ回らない世界になっています。実際にソニーやサムスン、ファーウェイもこぞってスマートフォンを制作しています。

このように、人々が考えていない製品が生まれ、そこから派生してLINEのような様々なサービスやアプリケーションが展開されています。

多くの人は今後もこのように社会がより豊かになっていくのだろうと考えているでしょう。

では、最近どのような技術が世界を変えようとしているのでしょうか？

皆さんは、「トランスヒューマニズム」という言葉を聞いたことはないでしょうか？

1. トランスヒューマニズム（Transhumanism：超人間主義）

トランスヒューマニズムとは、科学技術で積極的に人間を改良するという思想です。

人間を改造することは、生命の冒涜だと捉える人が多くいるでしょう。しかし、トランスヒューマニズムの本質は生命の抑制ではなく促進です。

科学技術の力によって病気や怪我・障がいのみならず、老化や死までをも克服できる可能性を秘めています。

数十年間で緩やかに定義されてきた、この新しい思想及び運動は、世界に数百万人の支持者が存在するとされています。

アメリカの未来学者マックス・モアが1990年に『Transhumanism : Toward a Futurist Philosophy』で提唱した以下の定義が最も広く普及しています。

"Transhumanism is a class of philosophies of life that seek the continuation and acceleration of the evolution of intelligent life beyond its currently human form and human limitations by means of science and technology, guided by life-promoting principles and values"

「トランスヒューマニズムは、聖眼を促進する原則と価値に基づき、科学技術により現在の人間の形態や限界を超えた知的生命の進化の存続と加速を追求する生命哲学の一潮流である。」

2.  シンギュラリティ（The Singularity:技術的特異点）

「シンギュラリティ」、近年、科学技術の話をするときによく聞く単語です。

シンギュラリティとは、コンピュータ・テクノロジーが指数関数的に進化し続け、AIがある時点で人間の知能を超えるという仮説です。

アメリカのコンピュータサイエンティストであるレイ・カーツワイルによって提唱され、『The Singularity Is Near: When Humans Transcend Biology』では特異点の到来は2045年と予言されています。

また、最近ではより早まっているのではないかとされています。

実際に、近年におけるAIの進歩は目覚ましいものになっています。

3. トランスヒューマニストが目指す未来

さて、人間はどのように進化していくのでしょうか？

最近では「マイクロチップ」を埋める人が多くなっています。実は世界だけでなく、日本にも潜在的に埋めようとしている人を含め6000人以上います。

それだけではありません。義手にはAIが組み込まれていたり、自動で熱を放ち熱伝導によって、物を温めるという機能を持った義手までも開発されています。

そして、何よりも驚きなことは、もう既に全身サイボーグの人間までいます。サイボーグ人間となったのは海外の男性で、科学者です。

彼は、日本でも指定難病と定められている筋ジストロフィーに侵されていました。

しかし、彼は生きることを諦めませんでした。その結果として、自分では動くことができないため、車椅子と体を融合させたり、

自発呼吸ができないことを見越して、機械を埋め込み、肺を動かしたり、心臓をも動かしています。また、声帯も動かせなくなるため、話せなくなることに対しても、声帯に変わる機械を埋め込むことで機械化しています。

このようにトランスヒューマニズムは現代の科学によって、今の医学では直せない不治の病を「現代人と違う形にすることで」克服できるようになっているのです。

また、死に対してもトランスヒューマニズムは働きかけています。

現在の医学では治療できない人体を死後に冷凍保存して未来の医療技術の発展によって蘇生する技術が完成した時点で解凍し、治療を行うといったクライオニクスというものが生まれています。

前提として、生きている人間を冷凍することは殺人罪に問われるので禁止されています。

実際にアメリカのアリゾナ州や中国、イギリス、カナダ、オーストラリア、ロシアでは何百体が収容できる冷凍保存容器があります。そして、数百万から数千万円を支払い容器に入っている人も何百、何千人といます。

ちなみに、アメリカのクライオニクス研究所に収容する場合は保険が適用されるそうです。

日本ではこの容器はありませんが、世界で死体を保存して蘇生を待っている人もいます。

クライオニクスの方法とは以下のようになります。

死後すぐに氷水によって冷却保存するのと同時に人工呼吸器を用いて血液を体内に循環させ、腐敗を防ぎます。さらに人体の機能を抑える抑制剤と麻酔薬を注射します。そして血液循環させながら血液を保存液に入れ替えていきます。そして液体窒素によって1週間かけてゆっくり体温を下げていきます。−196度になると特殊な容器に収容され、復活の時を持ちます。

しかし、今まで人間を冷凍した後に解凍したことはありません。解凍した時にどのようなことが起きるのか、未知なる世界なのです。

生き返るのか、それともそのまま死体なのかは不明です。ある科学者によると脳は解凍すると脳が溶けてしまうのではないかとも言われています。

しかし、アメリカのクライオニクス研究所の元所長は、

成功するにせよ、失敗するにせよリスクに挑戦する価値がある。これは自己投資であり、医療実験である。我々は火葬された後は知っているが、クライオニクスを選んだものには何が起きるかは知らない。少なくともクライオニクスを選択したものにはDNAが残されているだろう。だから、後は何が起きるのかを見守ろう。

と主張しています。

Have you ever heard of the term "Transhumanism"?

1. Transhumanism

Transhumanism is the idea of actively improving human beings with science and technology.

Many people would see the modification of humans as a desecration of life. However, the essence of transhumanism is the promotion, not the suppression, of life.

Through the power of science and technology, it has the potential to overcome not only disease, injury and disability, but also aging and death.

This new ideology and movement, which has been loosely defined over the decades, is believed to have millions of supporters around the world.

The following definition, proposed by American futurist Max More in 1990 in his book Transhumanism : Toward a Futurist Philosophy, is the most widespread.

2. The Singularity

"Singularity" is a word that we often hear when we talk about science and technology these days.

The Singularity Is Near: When Humans Transcend Biology" predicts that the Singularity will arrive in 2045.

It is also believed that it may be happening faster these days.

In fact, the progress of AI in recent years has been remarkable.

3. Transhumanists' vision of the future

So, how will humans evolve?

Recently, more and more people are having "microchips" implanted in their bodies. In fact, there are more than 6,000 people in Japan including those who are potentially going to have them implanted as well as in the rest of the world.

And that's not all. Prosthetic hands are being developed with built-in AI and even with the ability to automatically release heat to warm objects through thermal conduction.

And the most amazing thing of all, there are already full-body cyborgs. The person who became a cyborg is a man from overseas, a scientist.

He was suffering from muscular dystrophy, which is designated as an intractable disease in Japan. 

However, he did not give up on living. As a result, he is unable to move on his own, so his body is fused with a wheelchair, and in anticipation of not being able to breathe on his own, a machine is implanted to move his lungs and heart.

The assumption is that freezing a living person is forbidden because it is a crime of murder.

In fact, there are cryopreservation containers that can hold hundreds of bodies in the US state of Arizona, China, England, Canada, Australia, and Russia. And there are hundreds or thousands of people who have paid millions or tens of millions of yen to be in these containers.

Incidentally, if you are housed at the Cryonics Institute in the U.S., your insurance will be covered.

There are no such containers in Japan, but there are people all over the world who store dead bodies and wait for resuscitation.

The method of cryonics is as follows.
