見上げる　Look up...

お寺に行くと屋根が気になります。建築の専門的なことはわからないけれど瓦の並び、そして形が綺麗だなあと写真を撮ります。そして青空や白い雲とのコントラストも気になります。
タイトルの写真は東大寺のものです。撮ったのは夕方だったかな。

When I go to a temple, I'm always drawn to the roof. I don't know anything about architecture, but I like to take pictures of the beautiful arrangement of roof tiles and their shape. I'm also intrigued by the contrast with the blue sky and white clouds. The title photo is of Todaiji Temple. I think I took it in the evening.

屋根の構造もお寺によって違っていて勉強すれば面白そうだとは思っているので、写真を撮りながら勉強していくかな。

The roof structures differ from temple to temple and I think it would be interesting to study them, so I'll probably study while taking photos.

こういう古びた感じも写真に収めたい。

これは元興寺　This is Gangoji Temple

元興寺の瓦は飛鳥時代の瓦ということです。千四百年前の瓦が現役ってすごい。

The tiles on Gangoji Temple are from the Asuka period. It's amazing that tiles from 1,400 years ago are still in use.

これは見下ろしていますね。東大寺二月堂から撮っています。こういう重なり方も面白い。

This is a view looking down. It was taken from the Nigatsudo Hall of Todaiji Temple. The overlapping of the images is interesting.

東大寺の三月堂の屋根が面白いんだけれど、写真が見当たらない。撮っていたはずなんですが・・・。

法隆寺　Horyu-ji Temple

最後は法隆寺。こういう引の写真が今後の課題。
