フィンランド人ってどんな人達？

アメリカ人は社交的、イギリス人は小難しい、日本人はシャイ。ある国の出身者に対して特定のイメージがあることをステレオタイプといいます。

みなさんはフィンランド人に対して特定のイメージを持っていますか？
今回はフィンランド人の謎に迫ります！

①温かい人が多い
みんなとても親切で優しいです！！！
エピソード1
これは学校でのこと。留学1ヶ月目の私はは何もかもが初めてで、授業はフィンランド語で進むので何が何だか分からない状態でした。
ですが、どのクラスにも優しい子がいて、先生の言ってることを英語に毎回訳して教えてくれていました😭😭(現在も度々教えてくれます)
また、フィンランド人の友達の輪にはいる時、私が近づいてきたらさっきまでフィンランド語で話してたのに途中から会話が英語に変わっていたのがかっこ良すぎました。。。
エピソード2
私が留学生の友達とヘルシンキに遊びに行っていた時のこと。ショッピングをして、ご飯を食べて帰ろうとしていた時、乗ろうとしていた電車が動かず、駅のホームで友達とスマホを見ながら代わりの電車をあわあわしながら探していました。すると、子連れのフィンランド人のおじ様が''Are you okay? Do you need help?''と話しかけてくれました！

外でリュックを背負い、小走りしていたところ後ろから突然追いかけられ、何かと思ったらなんと私が鍵を落としていたみたいで😖感謝でしかないです…
ちなみにフィンランドは治安がとても良く、外に物を置いておいても無くなりません。
実は私、学校でワイヤレスイヤホンとスマホを無くし、パニックになったのですが翌日事務室に届いているのが見つかりました。。。
スマホを探す際も、先生、友達、掃除のおばさんも心配して一緒に探してくれました🥺
フィンランドじゃなかったらどうなっていたことか。。

②シャイ。
フィンランド人はスモールトークが苦手だと言っていました。学校でも仲良い少数の子とずっといる感じで、あまりいろんな人には声をかけない印象。ひょっとしたら日本人よりシャイかもしれません。特に男の子‼︎ 同性と固まる傾向が高いです。全く話しかけて来ず、イタリア人の留学生友達(女の子)はありえない！イタリアの男の子たちが恋しい…と言っていました。
しかし！
フィンランド人と一度仲良くなると、本当に話が止まりません。静かそうに見える子でもずっと話しています。しかも話がすごく面白いし、笑いが絶えない😌
家族、心を許した少数の友達の前だと自分を曝け出してくれます😊

③自分の意見をはっきり言う
意見を曖昧伝えることは少ない気がするし、話し方もはっきりしているように感じます。
食べ物に関しても、これ、嫌いと思ったら普通に残すし、自分に正直な印象です。

④甘党が多い
少し前ですが2015年の調査によるとフィンランド人は世界で三番目に脂質の摂取量が多いらしいです。そして、糖質面では10位！脂質、糖質というと…スイーツですよね。フィンランド人はお菓子が大好きで、常にチョコレート、キャンディー、クッキー、アイスなどがお家にストックされています。そして、フィンランド人は料理上手！外食することが日本と比べるととても少なく、私のホストファミリーの場合は家族で外食するのは月に一回くらいです。ちなみにバースデーケーキは手作りする人がほとんどのように感じます。
⑤感性が豊かな人が多い

日常的に絵を書いてる(イラストではなく油絵など、本格的な道具を使う)、音楽をやっている友達が多いです！
また、若い人が待ち時間(授業の合間、電車、車の中に日常的に編み物をしているのは日本ではなかなか見ない光景です。でもこれは秋から冬にかけて限定かな。といっても冬が半年近く続くので、まあまあ長い。
学校にmusic, art diplomaがあり(それ以外の普通？のコースもあり、選べます)芸術に興味がある人は更に深められる環境が整っているもの影響していると思います。

① There are many warm-hearted people. Everyone is very kind !!
Episode 1 This is at school. It was my first month studying abroad, and everything was new to me, and the classes were conducted in Finnish, so I had no idea what was going on. However, kind girls in the class translated what the teacher was saying into English every time. Also when I approached them, I noticed that he had been speaking in Finnish until then, but halfway through the conversation the conversation changed to English, which was really cool. . 
Episode 2:
When I was visiting Helsinki with my exchange student friend and we were about to go home after shopping and eating. But the train that we wanted to take did not move for some reason, so my friend and I were looking at our phones on the station platform as we hurriedly searched for a replacement train. Then, a Finnish man with his family talked to us, ``Are you okay? Do you need help?''
Episode 3
when I was running around with my backpack on, suddenly being chased from behind. I thought something was going on, but it turned out that I had dropped my keys😖 I'm just so grateful...By the way, Finland is very safe and you don't need to so much worry about leaving your stuff outside. (but just in case you'd better take yours with you) I lost my wireless earphones and smartphone at school and panicked, but I found them in the entrance counter the next day. . . When I was looking for my phone, my teacher, friends, and cleaning lady all worried and looked for it with me🥺I am sure the same things are not going to happen if I hadn't been to Finland.

② Shy.
Finnish people say that Finns are not good at small talk. At school, I feel like Finnish students always hang out with a few of their friends that they are close with, and I don't get the impression that they talk to a lot of people. Maybe they are more shy than Japanese people. Especially boys!! ︎ They tend to be together with people of the same sex. My Italian exchange student friend (girl) complained that Finnish boys don't talk to her! and she said she misses the Italian boys. but! I would like to highlight this part Once you make friends with Finnish people, most of them do not stop talking. Even people who seem usually quiet are going to always talk. Moreover, the stories are very interesting and I can't stop laughing 😌 When I'm in front of my family and a few friends whom I'm open, I'm able to reveal myself 😊
③ Speak opinion clearly
I feel like the way Finns speak is quite clear and simple. When it comes to food, if they don't like something, just leave it as it is.

④Having sweet tooth
Did you know that Finns are the world’s third-largest consumers of fat, and are also among the world’s top ten sugar eaters? Actually, it is a bit older statistics, but you might recognize that Finnish people love sweets.
your guess is correct if you go to finnish people’s houses, you can find they always stock chocolate, candy, and cookies in their shelves. 
Also, in my opinion Finnish people really take joy in making food and I guess most oftheir birthday cakes are homemade. I think those kinds of handmade culture is warmrful and will definitely continue after my exchange year.

Dessert is called jälkiruoka in Finnish, jälki means after and ruoka is meal. 
⑤be full of sensibilities
I have a lot of friends who take up painting as a hobby (using tools such as oil painting rather than illustrations), which is a hobby of many highly sensitive people! Also, it is rare to see young people knitting while waiting (between classes, on the train, or in the car) in Japan. However, I think this is limited to autumn and winter which means half a year, so it's quite a long time.  Schools have a music and art diploma (there are also other regular courses that you can choose from), so if you're interested in art, there's an environment where you can deepen your knowledge. Finland is blessed with nature and there is less time spent at school, so there is more time to spend on your own.
