BESPOKE SHOES_ビスポークシューズ

Bespoke Shoes is full order made shoes.
The word origin of bespoke is "BeSpoke".
This word means, that craftsmen and users consult with each other to make it.

In Japan, Ginza, there is the bespoke shoe atelier,  MARQUESS.
Shoji Kawaguchi is the main craftsman of MARQUESS.

In this article, I will introduce the procedure for making bespoke shoes.
In the next one, I will introduce about Shoji Kawaguchi.

Steps to make BESPOKE SHOES
The first step is hearing.
Craftsman hears in detail the user's lifestyle and worries about his feet to decides the style of shoes.

The second step is measuring.
Craftsman measures the user's feet in detail and collects data to make a last.
The LAST is a wooden pattern for making shoes. This is unique for each user.

The third step is creating the prototype shoes and testing the fitting.
The prototype shoes are made from similar materials that the user selected. They are scratched, marked, or chopped to measure the user's size.

Step four, after collecting enough information, a craftsman can finally start making shoes. From ordering to delivery, it takes half a year or more.

The estimated price is over 300,000 yen, if you take care of it, you can use it for the rest of your life.
It's expensive, but I think it's a rich purchase with a great experience.
