ビールスタンド重富／Beer Stand Shigetomi
開店時間は17～19時の2時間のみ。立ち飲み／ビールスタンド。一人2杯まで、つまみナシという「ストイックな」ビールスタンド。マスターは「ビール注ぎの名人」として全国的にも有名で、一種類のビールを注ぎ方の違いで複数種類のメニューにする技が名物。ホテルから徒歩3分。常に行列ができているので、オープン前に行くのがベター。
広島駅構内の商業施設「ekie」にも支店ができており、こちらは昼からビールが愉しめる。

Shigetomi is a simple and unpretentious beer stand with nationwide fame. They’re open for only 2-hours a day (between 5 to 7PM), customers are asked to leave after maximum of 2 orders, and they serve no snacks. Although they only stock one type of draft beer, they pour the beer with combination of various techniques to create variety of beer different in flavor and texture. Shigetomi is located on the edge of Nagarekawa area, just 3 mins from the hotel. It’s famous for its daily queues, so it’s best to get there at opening time.
Shigetomi also has a branch that recently opened inside Ekie—on the ground floor of the Hiroshima Station—where you can enjoy the same range of beer starting in the daytime.

そらや／Sora-ya
日本酒と魚が充実している、人気の立ちのみ屋。島根で水揚げされたものを中心とした新鮮な魚や、三原市にある梶谷農園から届くおいしい野菜を使った美味しくてリーズナブルなメニューが充実。黒板に書かれた日本酒は、島根のものを中心に、全国から選りすぐりの銘柄が並ぶ。クラフトビールやサワーも充実。14時から開けているため、”早い時間からの一軒目”としても人気。

Soraya is a popular standing bar serving some decent food at very reasonable price. They bring in fresh fish sourced (mostly) from the nearby Shimane Prefecture, as well as farm-fresh vegetables from Mihara area. They have a good range of Sake on stock, brought in from Shimane and beyond, as well as a strong selection of craft beer. Ask for their daily recommendations. It’s something of a popular ”first stop” for local regulars, as they open early at 2PM.

広島産レモンを使ったレモンサワーと広島県南部の大黒神島の牡蠣に特化した立ちのみ店。小ぶりながら濃厚な牡蠣が、爽やかなレモンサワーとよく合う。
夜が更けるにつれ、大きな窓から見えるにぎやかなカウンターの景色に惹かれた飲み客がどんどん吸い寄せられていく。新規客と常連が分け隔てなく混ざって会話を楽しむ、賑やかな雰囲気が魅力。

A popular standing bar specializing in oysters and “Lemon Sour” (mix of shochu liquor / citrus juice / soda) using local Hiroshima lemons. Fresh oysters from Okurokami Island is small but flavorful, and goes very well with freshness of the Lemon Sour.
Their large window facade attracts many passersby, and the vibrant conversation struck up between the newcomers and the regulars is what make this bar uniquely vibrant.

源蔵本店／Genzo Honten
朝9時30分から夜の7時30分まで、通しであいている大衆食堂。1940年代終わりごろ創業だというのが納得の、ホンモノの昭和感が感じられるお店。
刺し身やつまみを、冷蔵庫に入っているものから選ぶスタイルも昔から変わらない。一人でも入りやすく、好きな時間にふらっと立ち寄って小腹を満たすのにも最適。夜勤明けの人や、年配の常連に混じって、朝から冷えたビールと瀬戸内の新鮮な魚介をビールを楽しむのも悪くない。広島駅近くなので、「広島の出口」として利用する広島通も少なくない。

Genzo is a all-day dining that’s been around since the late 1940s, retaining the retro vibe reminiscent of the Showa-era. Open all-day between 9:30 AM to 7:30 PM, their no fuss / no frills unpretentiousness is something to be revered.
For the small dishes like fresh sashimi and other nibbles, you pick up the dishes of your choice straight from the refrigerator. It’s a great spot for solo diners, especially for light meals during off-peak hours of the day. You can join the early rising senior citizens and people working night shifts for a morning cold beer. Given its proximity to the Hiroshima Station, some regular visitors to the city drop by here as the “last stop” before they get on board the bullet trains.

バーカワサキ／Bar Kawasaki
広島は本格派のオーセンティックなスコッチバーが多いことでも知られるが、その中でも1939年にオープンしたこちらは別格の老舗。すぐ外にある流川の喧騒とは一線を画した重厚な雰囲気が、広島の財界人にも愛されてきた名店。
通も唸らせるウイスキーのセレクションが壁一面に並ぶほか、様々なカクテルのクオリティも高い。頼むと焼いてくれるパンやコンビーフなど、種類は少ないが上質なおつまみも魅力。

Hiroshima boasts some excellent authentic scotch bars, but Bar Kawasaki—which dates back to pre-war 1939—is the absolute pinnacle. Although only an oak door and brick wall separate Kawasaki with bright light districts of Nagarekawa, the calm and quiet ambience seem worlds apart.
The whiskey selection is extensive, although there are many regulars who swear by their cocktails. Their selection of light snacks—such as fresh-baked bread or corned beef—are also befittingly excellent.
