How I acquired English skills living in Japan whole my life

My first article was about a book, and it seems my self-introduction was skipped, so let me write about my story briefly.

The purpose I'm on this platform has two sides. One, I want to improve my own writing skills by keeping publishing. Second, my experiences of English learning might be your help to refine your skills. I've been using English over the past two decades, and I've worked for an American firm, so there must be some topics worth sharing, especially for those who want to work for foreign companies or enhance business and English skills. Also, I've traveled a lot to many countries, so I might drop some articles about my trips randomly. To be honest, though, I'm not sure whether this is the best place to write about myself as my content will be English, basically. I can't deny the possibility of migrating to another one, such as Medium, in the near future, but so far, I'm here for you to talk all about English.

Going back to my language acquiring journey, I was lucky enough to be exposed to English at a workplace. My career started at a Japanese firm, where I had to communicate with my counterparts in other countries over the phone every day. After moving to an American firm, my conversational opportunities have faded a little, but still, from time to time, there were workshops and many projects I played the role as a facilitator and interpreter, surrounded by colleagues from all over the world.

Thanks to these experiences, although I've never lived in any other country, somehow I got a certain level of English ability. Aside from my career, I was reckless enough to dive into an American college program to get a degree. It is hard to explain it as I had to go through both extreme ups and downs, but in terms of my reading skills, it definitely worked as it was mandatory to read a huge amount of papers as assignments.

Once my child joined my life, everything has changed. During my maternity leave, I got Eiken 1st grade and TOEIC 985 and quit the firm to shift my career to a more flexible one. Now I work as an independent contractor, and I do what intrigues me, anything from translation to English teaching. 

So, now you may think, there are no tricks shared to boost English skills in the short term in this article. I would say yes, it takes time to be a good English user. Actually, that's why I'm here to publish articles struggling to make no mistakes with the help of Grammarly. Still, however, it is also true that English was always my wings to land on the next stage, and I can't live without English materials as I'm obsessed with all the enjoyable content out there! So, let's enjoy together this long journey to improve our language skills.
