August 2, 2023: Fountain Pens（万年筆）

It is still sweltering hot every day and I am sometimes tempted to stop doing what I have been doing every day. In fact, I have sometimes stopped some of my routines. But I have been able to keep up the journaling every morning for now. I do it with a fountain pen and enjoy the touch of the writing. I cannot start the day without doing it. This year has reminded me more than ever how valuable it is to me. Since the beginning of this year, I have been studying maths in English. I have always written on paper with a fountain pen to do the exercises. In particular, I really need the fountain pen for this. The pen helps me to write down what I have had in my head on paper in a moment. When I do the exercise, I always scribble down all the things I have had in my head on paper, whether they are useful or not. Then, I sort them out to find answers. It never stops me from thinking. This is something that is unique to a fountain pen.
I was also aware that fountain pen's inks have different characteristics. I have used Waterman's mysterious blue ink for a long time. But when I was writing, sometimes, the ink did not come out as well and the letters were blurred. This frustrated me so much that I tried to change the ink. I tried Lamy’s LT52. Then, it gave me a much better touch of writing and has never made the written letters blur. It let me know that each ink has different characteristics, tempting me to try other inks.
Fountain pens still have plenty of things to enjoy and will never make me stop enjoying them.

　まだ、クソ暑い日が続いています。こう暑いと、時々日課を止めたくなります。実際に、いくつかをやらない日もあります。でも、今のところ、朝のジャーナリングは続けられています。ジャーナリングには毎日、万年筆を使います。そして、この書き心地をを味わいます。これをしないと一日が始まりません。今年は例年にもまして、万年筆のありがたみを感じています。年初から英語で数学の勉強を始めたのですが、問題を解くときは、いつも紙に書いています。この時に、万年筆が欠かせません。万年筆のお陰で頭に浮かんだことを瞬時に紙にできるのです。問題を解く時は、とりあえず、役に立とうが立つまいが、頭に浮かんだことを殴り書きします。そして、その後に整理して、答えを導き出します。万年筆はボクの思考を止めません。これが、万年筆ならではの技です。
　また、万年筆のインクにも様々だと気づきました。今までは、ウォータマンのミステリアスブルーを使っていたのですが、このインクは偶にインクの出が悪くなり、字がかすれることがありました。これに我慢ならなくなって、ラミーのLT52に交換してみたとろ、書き味がまった違いました。このインクでは字がかすれることはまったくありませんでした。インクもメーカーによって大きな違いがあることを知り、色々なメーカーのインクを試したくなりました。万年筆の楽しみは付きません。
