August 29, 2024: Professional Baseball League Competitions, Hanshin Tigers （プロ野球リーグ戦、阪神タイガース）
The professional baseball leagues in Japan, which consist of the Pacific League and the Central League, are being seen the end of this season. The Pacific League has seen one of the six teams, the Softbank Hawks, overwhelming other teams. It is so strong that it will soon win the championship. On the other hand, the Central League now sees two teams, the Hiroshima Carp and the Yomiuri Giants, being in contention. Among the two teams is the Carp, which I will support. They excited and impressed me with their game with the Giants on 22 August. They were behind the Giants at the end of the 8th inning and were not likely to turn the game around. But they tied the game in the last inning. And they turned it around in the 10th inning to win the game. Carp’s players seemed to be determined to win the game by all means. Their strong determination hit my heart through the TV. The game was the best one I have seen in this season. At that moment, they convinced me that the championship was almost in their hands.
On the other hand, my favourite, the Hanshin Tigers, have disappointed me this season. They are now in the third place but not good enough to compete with the Carp and win the championship. They have completely changed from the last year. In particular, their offense was and is extremely poor. None of the batsmen, apart from the leadoff batsman, Koji Chikamoto, were better than last year. They have failed to find a way to beat their opponents' new pitching arts, which have come from the opponents' failures last year. Even if they are lucky to move to the playoffs, I do not expect so much.
Above all, I am very concerned about whether the team manager, Akinobu Okada, would leave the team this season. I really hope that he will remain on the team and regain the championship the next season.
日本のプロ野球も佳境を迎えています。パリーグでは、ソフトバンクホークスが他球団を圧倒し、優勝も間近の強さです。一方、セリーグは広島カープと読売ジャイアンツの2チームが優勝争いをしています。この2チームなら、ボクは広島を応援します。8月22日のカープのジャイアンツとの戦いをみて、非常に興奮し、感動しました。カーブは、8回終了時点で、ジャイアンツに負けており、逆転しそうな雰囲気はありませんでした。でも、最終回に同点に追いつき、そして10回に逆転して、勝利したのです。カープの選手たちの何が何でも勝とうという強い気持ちを感じました。テレビを通じてこの強い気持ちに打たれました。。今シーズン最高の試合でした。あの瞬間、カープの優勝はほぼ間違いないと確信しました。
一方、ボクの大好きな阪神タイガースの今シーズンには、がっかりでした。現在3位ですが、カープと競って優勝するほどの力はありません。昨年とはすっかり変わってしまいました。特に、打線が極めてひどいです。１番バッターの近本選手を除けば、どのバッターも昨年よりひどい状態です。昨年の経験を踏まえた相手ピッチャーの新しい投球術に打ち勝つ術がない有様です。運よくプレイオフに回れたとしても、それほど期待はできません。
そしてなにより、岡田監督が今季限りでチームを去るのではと不安です。ぜひともチームに残り、来季は優勝を奪還してもらいたいです。
